Dan and Drika are special people that make everything on their reach to their guests to feel like being at home when staying at Catamaran Sur. The communication before my stay was nothing but perfect and they also helped me to arrange my arrival from Panama City to the boat. A bunch of good food and good talks complemented the whole experience to know San Blas.

It was amazing to be on board! We spend 4 days with the probably best Caribbean crew and the Katamaran SUR: we traveled to the nicest islands, had very tasteful meals, all self prepared by Drika and Daniel, followed by welcome conversations. We enjoyed this trip!

Sur: The Catamaran is a good size for 4-6 people on board. It was only me, chef Rika and captain Daniel on board. The small room size and bathroom didn't give me any problems since I am only 5 ft. It was a pleasurable experience to get a glimpse of life at sea. It is not a booze cruise. The pace was slow and life is simple. I loved it! I did get about 40 bites (mosquitos/bugs?) during my last night when I decided to open up the hatch to enjoy the moon. My bug repellent (3M) I put on before I slept did nothing to fend off the bugs/mosquitos! San Blas: It is a magical place. It is not crowded by tourist if you go with this option. It is where your stress can melt away, you senses heightens and you clock slows down. It allows you to strip away the excess and see the important little things in life. So simple, yet so beautiful. The crystal clear water, the people and life style was a breath of fresh air. It was great to get fresh seafood from the locals when they approach the catamaran by boat offering conch, octopus, fish, lobster or whatever the catch of the day may be. It was cool to paddle board to the local islands to pick up fresh bread, fish and coconut. San Blas can be deceiving with the crystal clear calm water. Watch out for shallow reef/water. It is everywhere when you paddle or swim. Logistic to get there: If you catch a flight that lands at PTY by 5 or 6 am, you can get a shared taxi for about $25. The commute is about 2-2.5 hrs. If not, you can still get to the Catamaran that same day with a private taxi for $150. The roads are extremely windy. I recommend getting a neck pillow to make the ride a little bit more comfortable. The water taxi will cost about $25-$35 depending on what they feel like charging, how may passengers are there and/or distance? Who knows. I had the private transfer and it was fine. The draw back of a group taxi is that there are people that may smell. I took this option back to the city and I was so glad my allergies kicked in (stuffy nose).

Response from Daniel:
Katherine was the kind of guest that you hope to have. She is friendly, educated, simple, take care of all the things on the boat, and was like part of the family. She really took advantage of his stay, getting true connection with the pristine environment. Was really a pleasure having her as a guest.

we booked 4 nights on the cat of daniel and drika. we had a wonderfull time with them. the welcome was really warm. the cat is a little narrow but you find everything what you need. anyway you spend all your time outside with the beautifull san blas islands as surrounding. we did sail with the catameran and daniel took us to amazing snorkling places and lonely islands. drika is a wonderfull cook and a great host. they respect the nature and the culture of the kunas. i can highly recomend a sailing trip with them.

If I were to say that you will have the time of your life when visiting Daniel and Frederica, that would presume that - to date - you have yet to encounter genuine hospitality on a boat designed to kiss the water and welcome tropical currents between sleek blue fins. Should you have a fraction of the experience that our family of friends had, you will be smiling, as I am now, remembering. We made new friends and found new joy in those already close to heart. Why hesitate?
