Just 7' from Paleochora and the sea. Remote but close to everything. Quiet but 5' from super markets, doctors, nightlife. One of the well kept secrets of Crete. The Tuscany of Greece & next to the sea...

The space

A wonderful house with the best view of Anidri village towards the sea and Paleochora bay. The house was named Caminada which was its name during (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). The reason being, the amazingly privileged location of the house and the land around it (Caminada means "chimney" in Greek), on the top of the hill of the village of Anidri. In the old days, the original owner, a renown musician of the area, would play his lyra for the whole village almost every night.

The house dates back to the beginning of the 1900's and we have made an effort to keep most of its initial features, building in all the necessary amenities for our guests, friends and family.

The apartment is 95 square meters, with two main bedrooms. In the living room opposite the big window with the stunning view over two gorges, there is a sofa bed that can accommodate one more person. There is a fully equipped kitchen plus air-conditioning in both bedrooms. There is a shadowed part of the beautiful terrace and a big part of it in the open air, so that you can enjoy the stars at night - trust me, that alone is an experience.

The apartment accommodates 2 to 5 people - plus a baby :)

Guest access

Just 5 klm NE of Paleochora, it remains close enough to all the amenities of a small city (including super markets, a doctor, car and motor rentals, cafes, restaurants), but still far enough from it, for those who love some action but want to have absolute peace at the same time.

The house is built exactly next to a great trekking path - in between Anidri and Azogyres - which makes it ideal for couples and families with children that would like to to have a stroll or a trek on these great mountains, and who love nature - but still want to be sure they won't have to drive for hours for everything they might need. Paleochora literally has everything, and Caminada has peace.

The house has been treated with respect during its renovation. Many of the objects and pieces of furniture in it are antiques. We expect that our guests show the same kind of respect to it. This is not a hotel nor would we want to make it look as such. Your concern for the maintenance of Caminada's character is very much appreciated in advance :)

There are almost no words to describe this place, it is simply that great! However, I'll try....Caminada is stunning, beautiful, simple, authentic, awesome, amazing. We couldn't have asked for a more relaxing week away in a beautiful location in a super friendly village away from the tourist trail. We felt part of a small community yet could retreat to the relative isolation on the mountain side to watch the stars at night or massive blue sky in the day time. Truly truly amazing.

We loved the remote location of caminada, it was very peaceful and relaxing. The views are stunning, and the nearby walks were great, as well as the local restaurant. It was exactly what we were looking for and perfect for a group of four people. Would definitely recommend staying here!

Superlatives are almost always difficult, but not this time: I really can't imagine a more beautiful view on this part of Crete! And even better: This holds true also by night, because we never ever saw such a beautiful night sky before - just great! The house itself is spacious and has everything you need - and as it is facing South you really need the air condition in both sleeping rooms in summer (including September). And another thing we really loved: You can leave the house, turn right - and immediately you are on your way along a valley to the next village. We did this most beautiful walk (about 5 km for one way) three times, and would have done it again, if we had stayed longer. The last part of the car journey to the house is (as already mentioned by other visitors) a bit tricky as to the low quality of the road, but only in the sense of "uncomfortable", i.e. not "dangerous". So: Thanks again, Alexandra and Benoit, that we could stay at your most beautiful place!

I can describe Alexandra en Benoits house in word: Incredible! The house itself, the location and the view are all spectacular. It has a L.A. vibe to it and you feel like a king staying there. The last 300 meters to the house by car is not for the faint hearted. It's adventurous and insures the remoteness off the house, but you will kinda get used to it after a few times. The area with nice beaches, walks, , nature, restaurants is great. The housekeeper is super helpful with everything and speaks excellent English also. We were totally relaxed after our four nights and I suspect everyone will.

We are Alexandra and Benoit, both film producers living both in Belgium and Greece. We are lucky enough to be able to "take our work with us" wherever we are, so we can enjoy our second passion, apart from film making, which is traveling. We discovered Crete during one of our travels in 2011, found this house in a bad shape and have been renovating it since. It is the best spot in Crete in our opinion, as it combines the mountain, the sea, a small city close by that you can find everything, but still remaining totally off the noise even in the middle of August. It is our paradise and from the very beginning we'd like to see ourselves as ambassadors of it. Paradise Ambassadors that is. How cool is that? :)
