Description

The space

Church View apartment is located on a modern complex in Paralimni. Being on the ground floor makes this ideal for the elderly or infirm. The apartment has everything you would expect from a rental property, 2 fair sized bedrooms, 1 being a double and the other 2 single beds. There is also an option for 2 extra guests, utilising the double sofa bed in the living room. All rooms have air-conditioning for those hot summer nights but also provides heat if you fancy a winter break.

The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need, including a dishwasher and washing machine.

The bathroom is of a decent size complete with a shower. Hot water is plenty during summer, for those winter lets, there is an immersion heater.

Paralimni
On the East coast of Cyprus near to the border with the ghost town of Famagusta is the bustling little town of Paralimni. The word Paralimni means "by the lake". Historically, Paralimni was built on the shores of a shallow lake, which filled with water only in the wintertime. In the beginning of the 20th century, as a result of reclamation work, the whole of the lakebed was reclaimed for agricultural purposes.

Despite the amount of new development in progress on the outskirts Paralimni town centre retains it's charm. There is a beautiful town square dominated by the church and a newer plaza across the road complete with an ornate fountain. The newer square is bordered by some trendy cafe bars and traditional taverns too where you can relax with the locals watching life go by. The towns streets are quaint and there is an air of timelessness about the place which is enhanced by the pavement cafe's where the locals spend the warm Cyprus afternoons drinking coffee and playing backgammon. The one way traffic slowly winds through the narrow streets mixing with the shoppers who use the roads too because the cafe bars spill out onto any available space on the pavement.

The countryside surrounding Paralimni has rich red soil and is famous for its picturesque windmills - used to draw water from underground aquifers to irrigate the surrounding land. Before the rise of tourism, the rich agricultural land surrounding Paralimni was the source of Paralimni's wealth, and is still of great importance.

Getting around

Cyprus has a great public bus network with a bus stop just a few minutes walk. There are several route taking you in all directions from Pernera, to Protaras to Ayia Napa and even Larnaca. It is very inexpensive and is a great way to explore the island.

We spent nice week in this apartments, they are really big and fully equiped. Verry big terrace with a place to B-B-Q. A chance to eat outside - very good! (Better than in my hometown:) Area is quite - no partyes near, if you want some - go to Protaras or Ayia Napa. But near is nice taverna for peacefull fammily dinner. Lidl - big supermarket is like next door. 15-20 minutes by foot to the centre of Paralimni. Better to have a car - sea is not very close, you should go by bus. But even without it we spent very good time there. Chris is friendly, always in touch, and ready to solve all problemes that unexpectedly appeares in favor of the guest.

We're a family with two adults and two children (3 and 6 yo) and the apartment had everything we needed. There is all the equipment mentioned in the description. Really big terrace. Fly screens and sun shades on all windows. There are plenty of books and DVDs in English for lazy evenings. Very, very quiet neighborhood. There is a supermarket Lidl across the road. We were renting a car, so we visited almost every beach on the shore up to Ayia Napa, and most of all we liked the long beach in Protaras with many places to eat around it. All the beaches are within 20 minutes on the car or less. We hadn't used the pool.
