Smart, comfortable and dog friendly accommodation exclusive to you with amazing views. Only 75 minutes from Glasgow centre yet in the dark sky area! Step out onto 15 acres which you and your dogs can relax and enjoy exclusively .
Plenty of parking adjacent. The area immediately around the cabin has a stock fence with chicken wire so it’s secure for your dogs.
Electricity , linen and towels are all
provided. There is a full size fridge with freezer. An induction hob and combi microwave.
The space
This is a conversion of two stables . It has been extensively insulated and renovated to a high standard.
It has a secure fenced area completely around it for parking at rear and sitting out on the patio area enjoying the views and dark sky. Your dog(s) can potter outside safely as the immediate cabin area is fenced off from the main field.
Leading from this area is a 5 bar gate which gives you exclusive access to tracks across a field of 15 acres which is doggy paradise with long grass, ditches and jumps! My dogs and I don’t use this area when guests are in the cabin so you can completely relax when out with your dogs.
Guest access
You have use of the 15 acres immediately through the gate as well as the area around the cabin. Lots of space and tremendous views.
Please note that pathways are cut but the vegetation is natural ( no livestock to chew) so in the summer it is long grass.
Other things to note
Guests come here to unwind and should be aware that it is a base for days out and a place for relaxation. It is in the middle of countryside and scenic surroundings so not good if you want to be able to walk to amenities from here. Driving is relaxing too as there are no traffic jams.
It’s ideal if you want to escape from fireworks.
As the cabin is in the very heart of the Scottish countryside, guests should be aware that there may be night sounds such as foxes or owls. The cockerel crowing will possibly wake you up in the morning as, although a few hundred yards from the cabin, he can be heard from a distance! If the hens are laying I provide guests with eggs.
As there is no agriculture (therefore pesticides) in the immediate vicinity there will, in the summer months, be midgies in early evening and morning if the weather is favouring them. Often there is breeze which helps a lot. Midgie nets/ candles and spray are available .
There are wildlife around native to Scotland and sometimes you will see tiny frogs in the long grass and the occasional toad ( avoid allowing your dog to play with or lick toads as they release poison). Recently there has been a heron in the field and the occasional owl and red kite. You are also likely to see deer but separated by a tall deer fence. At rut the deer also make a distinctive sound.
Dog crate is available should you want one. I have various sizes to suit. Just message. Freezer for raw food is in my barn which you are welcome to use and again just message. I will always have space available.
A dog sink is outside the cabin to wash muddy paws!
If you plan to eat in the local pub, The Clachan Inn is 5 miles away. It has an excellent reputation for food and the bar area is dog friendly. Do please book ahead as it gets really busy. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
There is a well stocked garage and local shop in the village. The shop closes at 6pm and the garage at 7pm - times may vary seasonally.
Th nearest bigger store ( Co-op) is in Dalmellington which is 15 miles away but you can arrange a supermarket delivery ( Tesco) to my address. Please just message. The van can drive right up to the cabin door.
There is a Tesco in Castle Douglas for provisions. In St John’s Town of Dalry which is 5 miles away there is a post office and a fairly large supermarket area at the local garage there too.
