Description

The space

A beautiful villa approx. 3 km from the Ubud Palace which is the centre of Ubud. Rice fields surround the villa and at the rear is a magnificent jungle view. The villa is private with two VERY SEPARATE air conditioned bedrooms both with an ensuite and private patio. There is a kingsize bed in the main house which is luxurious and a double bed in the smaller guest room which is not to the same standard in size and is typical Balinese with a delightful semi open bathroom . If you are two couples there will be a difference in the spaces. The pool is magical, overlooking the jungle with a large bale and outdoor kitchen along side. All visitors comment on the 'energy' of the place.

The villa is typical of Bali in that the design is very much outdoor living with a separate covered outdoor kitchen and bale. There is no formal dining and lounge room. There is no BBQ or table and chairs as the Bale is the eating area. However there is a table and chairs are on the patio of the second bedroom.

You will be given breakfast on the first morning (banana pancakes) and if you wish Wayan to cook breakfast every morning you will need to ask her to buy fresh fruit, fresh coconut, eggs etc from the local market. You will need to pay her for this.

Airport pick up is available at the lowest rate. This is recommended as the villa is sometimes difficult to find for a driver not from Ubud.

Six days a week and for four hours a day there is a maid who cleans. She is happy to cook if you wish for an extra payment from you.
A gardener and pool person comes four times a week. If something needs attention please tell Wayan or Ketut to attend to it. They are more than happy to do so.

It is best if you hire scooters to get around. Drivers are very cheap to get to and from the villa.

Guests will have private access to the whole villa.

I am often travelling so not always in Ubud. I check my emails many times a day should I need to be contacted. Please enjoy the villa. If you have a problem please speak to the housekeeper who will do her best to rectify it.

The neighbourhood is very beautiful. The village was featured in the 'Eat Pray Love' film. What I personally love about it, is that it is not a typical village populated by expats. It's a very typical Balinese village with a famous Jegog temple nearby. The village people are very friendly and will welcome you. Enjoy!

Walking to Ubud takes 35 minutes and is 3km.
The trip in to and out of Ubud with a driver costs about $8 or 80,000rp.
Scooters can be hired for you so that they are at the villa on your arrival. Just let me know. They cost approx. $6 or 60,000rp per day.
Bicycles can be hired also .,
Have fun!

Guest access

Guests will have private access to the whole villa.
Security of the villa is excellent with the typical walls around the property.

Sandy was an incredible host and responded to her messages within the hour every time we sent them. There were two or three very minimal problems over our month-long stay that she addressed immediately and to satisfaction. She allowed us to check in four days early in order to accommodate our schedule. Her team on site was amazing and available daily. We had two scooters available to us at check-in and her staff was available to us daily to clean and answer questions. The pool was a nice bonus. The security and seclusion was nice. It was a little tricky directing a taxi to the residence as there is no sign. We just instructed them that it was directly across the street from the soccer field and cemetery. That seemed to help. The house staff took our children to the temple one day of the week and even brought them 'costumes' that fit them. We highly recommend Sandy and her get away!! Thank you Sandy, Wyan and Made!!

Aesthetically beautiful, though some might not find it's layout practical. A house more so for those who appreciate the outdoors and find tranquility through it, due to the kitchen, eating area and the second bathroom being outside. If which is the case, this place is great value. Wayan is very helpful too, willing to do whatever she can to assist. Located about a 5 minute ride outside of central Ubud, leaving it's atmosphere very calm. Thanks for letting us stay Sandy, much appreciated

The communication before and during our stay was swift and we got exactly what we were promised with a lovely villa at the back or a rice field on the edge of the jungle. The rooms were large and pool area and garden are private and quiet (although a new villa next door meant some minor noise as they planted trees etc, but not really machinery ) you can easily get a passing local to take you to the Main Street, which takes about 5 minutes, or about 40 minutes walk. We had an issue with the safe not opening and sandy replied within a minute and it was sorted. We plan on staying again and would 100% recommend this wonderful oasis

We had a lovely stay at Sandy's villa. There were three of us staying and it was perfect. The second bedroom is not the same size or as modern as the other, but absolutely fine and fitted out with a/c, bathroom etc. Location is perfect - far enough outside ubud to feel rural, but very accessible and only 5-10 minute journey into town. We hired scooters, which are fine even for beginners as long as you're careful and get some confidence at rush hour. Sandy organised these for us and they were waiting there at the villa along with the lovely scooter-man Wayan. If you want a driver, Gusti is there at a moments notice and more than happy to take you wherever you need. Sandy went the extra mile to advise on good excursions and book them for us at good rates (Mt Batur is great), and was always very responsive. Wayan, the villa's pemuteran, is absolutely lovely and was so helpful and kind. She even helped the pizza delivery man find us at well past her bedtime! Finally, if you like a good strong massage, call Ketut (sandy has his number). He comes to the house and is excellent!
