A converted railway carriage for 5 on the very edge of Cardigan Bay. No neighbours, just you and the waves...and dolphins as Europe's largest colony live year-round! Sleeps 5 in 2 bedrooms! WIFI & woodburner. INSTANT BOOK - Calendar updated daily :)

The space

INSTANT BOOK - My calendar is updated every day of the year so you may 'Instant Book' with confidence. :) No need to ask 'if available'.

The carriage is snug ALL year round - panel radiators in every room and, woodburner, and double glazing.

What's included? Basically just bring yourselves, and food and drink. The bed/s are made (according to number staying) with 100% cotton linen, towels & teatowels provided, fresh dishcloth every time (and washing up liquid, and liquid soap, and first few toilet rolls). First basket of logs (and kindling, paper, matches) for the woodburner. The kitchen is equipped. All you need is to relax, get out on the veranda with your drink of choice, and start looking for dolphins!

Conde Nast Traveller - Top Five 'best spots to enjoy the British Seaside' 'This carriage has reached her final staging post - between the beaches of Aberporth and Tresaith. The only neighbours are the birds...this is the perfect place for toasting crumpets after a day's walking or dolphin-spotting' (Sally Shalam for Conde Naste Traveller magazine).

Enjoy some of the finest views in Wales from our converted Edwardian railway carriage located on the coastal footpath between the sandy beaches at Aberporth and Tresaith.

Many guests see Europe's largest colony of bottle-nose dolphins in the bay in front, and direct access to the heritage coast footpath makes our carriage the ideal location for exploring the West Wales coast. Peaceful location with no roads within 300 yards. You can catch sea bass and mackerel on lines from the rocks in front of the carriage.

In Detail -

All rooms in the carriage are lined in oak, are insulated and have panel heaters so are suitable for use all year round. We love it when it is stormy in winter!

WIFI provided free of charge, works in every room (note we've never had any problem with it, and to our knowledge it always works, but like any accommodation provider we cannot guarantee WIFI)

Kitchen with cooker, microwave etc. Fairly basic as kitchens go but better views than most you'll have used! Fridge with small freezer compartment. Door to rear covered patio 'the train platform'.

'Salon' with woodburner (first basket of fuel supplied). Two sofas

Verandah with views to the front. benches and table.

Bedroom Compartment 1: standard size Double bed, wardrobe etc, luggage racks! It's compact, but cosy. Fitted wardrobe and dressing table. Hairdryer.

Bedroom Compartment 2: Standard size Double bed + one narrow train bunk (suitable only for child). Again, note it's compact!

Dining Compartment: It wouldn't be a train without one! 1930s Oak dining suite.

Shower Room with quality quadrant shower, toilet etc. Heated chrome towel rail and blast fan for warmth when you get out of the shower.

Garden (enclosed) with access to sea, picnic bench, also private patio to rear

WIFI included free of charge, but, like in any accommodation, cannot be guaranteed. Always worked so far :)

Guest access

A complete detached railway carriage holiday home and direct access to the famous coastal footpath. Direct access down into the sea!

Other things to note

300m walk along the coastal footpath (flat, 2m wide tarmac path - wheelchair accessible) from the parking area. Max. 4 adults. There is virtually always free on-street parking available (even in August) but please be mindful of local residents access, and park with due regard to safety.

We loved our stay in wendy. Views are absolutely gorgeous and my son loved living in a train carriage! We were so lucky with the weather, and with two beaches within walking distance it was easy to keep the kids happy.

GOOD: Quiet, secluded, romantic, enjoyable. BAD: Dirty, scruffy, could do with a refurb There's lots to recommend "Wendy" the Railway Carriage; it's in a wonderful location and it's quiet, romantic, very charming and great value for money too. But it has seen better days. The building should really have a thoroughly deep clean before before it's listed on AirBNB (the bathroom floor was filthy) and the old mattresses could do with replacing too. It's a bit of a missed opportunity really because "Wendy" could be one of the best places to stay in Wales if it had a bit of money spent on it. If it does, we'll be back!

The most perfect view and lovely vintage railway stylings inside. If you're looking for high-spec, sparkling interiors this isn't the place- it's instead charmingly retro and a bit rough around the edges. Recommend the walk along the coastal path to Tresaith.

A wonderfully place scenic place. very well appointed. The kids loved the quirkiness of sleeping in a train carriage. Wonderful view and nearby Aberporth beach is excellent. Definitely recommend if you fancy something a bit different

So where totally different to stay for a relaxing week away from everything Lots of wildlife to see. Carriage is beautiful and is a five minute walk along a tarmac path from the car park Just a fantastic place to stay

We absolutely loved Wendy, the cute converted train carriage. The carriage is surprisingly spacious and easily sleeps four adults. We loved the setting overlooking the sea and enjoyed sitting on the terrace watching dolphins and the local kids jumping in the water off the cliff faces. The cabin is located directly on the coastal road so you get alot of walkers going past wishing you a good day, which was a lovely change for us coming from london where its frowned upon to make eye contact with strangers! The carriage has been kept very authentic its like being taken back in time, but with a modern toilet shower and kitchen! I must say although everything felt quite old it did feel clean and well kept. We had a bbq and watched the sunset during our stay the views are spectacular. I didn't have mine with me but it would be great for dogs as the land around the carriage is fully enclosed. We will certainly be returning, with the dog next time! The carriage is on the clif face but you can easily walk down to the sea which is so clear! Aberporth beach is a 15 minute walk andthere is a local shop with essentials (run by a really lovely man). For what we were after - it was perfect.

We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay, and just wish we could have stayed longer. Beautiful location and really tastefully furnished - we loved the authenticity of the carriage. We even saw dolphins! Highly recommended.
