About this listing
A new space in a leafy corner only a hundred yards from the fabulous Avon beach which boasts a lovely restaurant. The New Forrest and the medieval town are only a few minutes away. Water sports, hiking,horse-riding, sailing all nearby.
This is a newly decorated annexe to the main house with its own private entrance, patio and parking space. There is one main bed/sitting room which has a double bed, table and chairs for two and ample wardrobe space. There is a lovely new fully fitted kitchen with breakfast bar. I'm told the shower in the comfortable bathroom is the best in the house.
This is a self contained flat with its own private entrance and parking space out front so guests can come and go as they please in total privacy. There is a small front patio (exclusive to the flat) which is a sunny spot for morning coffee. A 3 minute walk on the beach in either direction will take you to a great cafe where you can sit outside and look at the Needles (Isle of Wight). A 10 minute walk along the beach to the East leads you to Highcliffe Castle (home of Mr.Selfridge). An 8 minute walk along the beach to the west leads to Mudeford Quay where there is another cafe/shop and fresh seafood stall. There are also stunning views up the river Avon to Christchurch's 11th century priory and across to the iron age settlement of Hengisbury Head. Access to both is by a short ferry ride. The Christchurch Harbour Hotel (a favourite wedding venue) is a short 12 minute walk along the road or beach.
Interaction with guests
Since the apartment is adjacent to the main house it is likely that I, or a member of family/friend, will be around should you need help with anything such as recommendations for some of the great restaurants, walks and beaches in the area. On the other hand if you want privacy you will get it. Should you want to use the pool and garden then you can access them through a courtyard at the back of the annexe apartment.
The Christchurch/New Forrest area is a great location for just about anything you might like to do. The town of Christchurch has river boating, sailing and walking trips available as well as a great little theatre/cinema. It also has some top class restaurants, hotels and shops. The Captains Club Spa Hotel for example is a great river side venue for drinks, food and a massage. You can moor your boat there if you've hired one from Christchurch quay. Equally elegant is the Chewton Glen Spa Hotel which is a healthy 30 minute walk along the beach or a 5 minute ride in a car. If you like tennis or golf you can play it there. They also do great afternoon tea apparently. The Georgian town and sailing enclave of Lymington is about 8 miles away. From here you can take a ferry (car & passenger) to the Isle of Wight - well worth it for a day trip. The famous Victorian sea-side resort and University town of Bournemouth is only a 15 minute drive away and well worth a visit. The shopping, the park, the beach, the pier and the nightlife are all legendary. Bournemouth is a favourite place for English language learners from all over the world so you will hear many languages spoken on its streets.
At the end of the street (a 3 minute walk) there is a bus stop from which you can take buses to Christchurch, Lymington and Bournemouth. Christchurch and Hinton Admiral railway stations are nearby. From there you can connect to anywhere in the UK. Bournemouth International Airport is 10 minutes drive and provides easy access to the apartment.
Other things to note
If coming by car from London it is a 90 minute drive down the motorway (M3/M27). If coming by train the nearest stop is either Hinton Admiral or Christchurch. Pick up at the station can be arranged.
The flat is an annexe to a private home which is in a typical English suburb so in accordance with accepted behaviour in such an area there should not be much noise after 11.00pm at night. Pets would not normally be allowed but you can always ask. Smoking inside the flat is not permitted but there is a nice front patio/garden for such activities. It is expected that you will treat this part of my house with the same respect you would treat your own.
