About this listing
This is our piece of paradise. The property benefits from its own private secluded beach due to the natural rock formations around its beach front. The Indian Ocean is always warm and inviting and we have private shaded spaces for our guests to read, eat and relax and even work if necessary....
It is cosy and rustic and simple. But has air conditioning which is a great benefit! As well as a fan. Plenty of hanging space and large chest of drawers. The bathroom has a en suite bathroom with towels, toilet paper and soap provided. The hot shower needs to be run to get it going, we provide a recipient for saving the water in this case.
You can use the large outside Fridge for your food & drinks to be stored. There is also a common dining room area near our Main Kitchen that can be used by the Guests where you find the Wifi provided. All open spaces on the Beach Plot are for the use of our Guests.
Interaction with guests
We are always available to help as are our permanent 2 Staff who live on site 24/7, they rotate on duty and have been with us for over 15 years. We have a housekeeper who comes to clean your room everyday. However - Please make sure that you give her the Keys in the morning. Urgent laundry can be arranged at an additional fee.
The location of our home right in front of the beautiful beach makes our home very unique. See the fishermen and ladies from the local village working on the beach. Meet them to purchase their catch or see what they take home to make their family's curry. Go snorkeling right in front of our home, the visibility is lovely and some great corrals & fish to be seen. Or take a long walk to the local lighthouse. The sunsets are breath-taking and you can grab one of your cold beers to enjoy it even more. We are NOT near the town centre or the airport - that is what makes our space special. So please do not evaluate us negatively on the location review for we are being very honest in stating that we are out of the way and hope that is the main reason you chose to come and stay with us. For our beauty and seclusion...
We are not near the City Centre (we would hate to be!) but there are plenty of taxis and always people who are driving into town and if you don't mind sticking out your thumb you should get lifts in and out. There are the local chapas (mini-bus) or municipality buses too. It's about ± 20 minutes drive from the Centre and the Airport. We have a list of a number of Taxi Drivers other guests have used. We have the average rates for you. Enjoy your stay.
Other things to note
We have 6 dogs on site with us - it's our best security feature I believe! But if you don't like dogs then you should not stay with us. We also have 2 kids and they are not rowdy or undisciplined - they do enjoy going off to the beach and riding their bikes during the weekends. There is a detailed information sheet in the room and in the Basics Information above. Included in our Double Room rate we offer a basic local breakfast consisting of local toast, jam & butter, local fruit piece, a fruit juice, tea and coffee. Should you wish to have a more substantial breakfast menu we do recommend either Russels or Kauri. We hope it is obvious to our guests that living in an African country, in front of the beach with such wild vegetation and terrain brings with it certain risks. All care must be taken due to this type of setting and terrain, especially for children or elderly guests. We cannot be held liable or responsible for any accident / incident during your stay at our place. Please take care that this is a malaria area and you show take all the necessary precautions.
We expect our guests to enjoy the beautiful setting of our home whilst respecting all our staff, family and animals. We do not expect our guests to bring strangers or non-booked visitors to stay at our family home. So, if you have booked for a certain number of guests please make sure exactly that number of guests arrives at check-in and throughout your stay - thank you for your consideration and respect in this matter. There is no smoking in the accommodation although there is plenty of room to smoke outside. We do not mind if our guests have late night picnics on the beach but we don't expect anyone to have raves at our house! We hope you can return our nice accommodation in the same order that you found it. All in all I do believe we are pretty easy-going Hosts and we try and help out as much as we can.
VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON THE WIFI WE OFFER - We inform all our Guests that we offer Wifi from a local Mozambican service provider in a Common Room in the middle of our home. There is no Wifi in your particular accommodation. Therefore, if your expectation is to have Wifi in your accommodation we inform you that this is not the service we provide. The Common Room is very easy to find. Please ask one of our 24/7 employees where it is if you cannot find it. We would kindly remind you that this Wifi connection is probably not up to your expectations and standards. But it is what it is, offered in our location in the world. We do not offer it for business use at any level. However it’s fine enough to use if you need to go on AirBnB, your email account, other common social networks etc. Please ensure it is only used for legal purposes and never for illegal uploading, downloading, or other illegal activities.
We would kindly request that at the end of your stay when you are asked to evaluate us you do not state that there was no Wifi. Wifi is clearly offered on these terms and hence this long text in our Profile to ensure that are NO misunderstandings before you book. If you do not get the Wifi in the Common Room to work, please let us know immediately. Please do not wait until you leave us and tell AirBnB as then there is nothing we can do to try and sort out the issue. We are not saying we will be able to get you the connection because from time to time it does go down but we will certainly try and see what is going on. Remember we are also dependant on the same Wifi and thus it is of interest to us to know it is up and running fine.
But mostly we do hope that you decide to stay with us in our simple and rustic home setting!
I work for a Multi-national oil & gas company based in Mozambique and my wife in global Logistics. We both studied @ University in the UK but returned to my home country to settle down. I travel a lot with my wife of 16 years and we have 2 small children and 6 dogs. But they do not always come with us on these long trips! We have seen many countries and love to find out about other cultures. We are privileged to have a little bit of paradise where we live as its right in front of the Indian Ocean (see our listings) and we sit and watch humpback whales for 3 months of the year - but it's good to get away from our lovely piece of the world from time to time!
