Our company rented 48535 Capistrano Way within this gated community. The owner has been THE WORST to deal with. First we show up and no one was here to check us in or do a walk through. We did not have hot water for the first three days. This is a two bedroom house and when we as…
Response from Karoline:
I'm very sorry that Miguel feels this way, as I explained the rental rules for Coachella & Stagecoach (during the month of April) to him before his company rented the house. Miguel signed a rental agreement, house rules, and check in instructions that not only provided them with everything they needed to check in, but also stated that there could only be three renters. The house has two bedrooms, and they agreed to three guests, both in their initial request and as stated in the rental agreement. Again, this is only during the month of April when the festivals are happening. During April, the country club rules are five guest passes for the property, three for the house and two for the casita, which was rented to other guests during the second half of their rental. I offered them the Casita while it wasn't rented, and they declined. Unfortunately, after agreeing to rent the house for their three employees, and after I explained the rules to both Miguel and another employee, another one of the employees asked to add another two guests, his sister and his cousin, and I had to say no. Next, I was informed that same employee brought out his girlfriend and decided to stay in a hotel, and somehow that was a 'problem' that I needed to solve. Then, they asked to swap out one of the employees, even after promising me in writing that no one would need to be swapped out, as it will be the same three people the entire month. I simply asked them to turn in their pass so that I could delete one and add another, which I did within 24 hours of their request. At the end of their rental period, I spoke with Brian, one of the guests that stayed in the house, and he said that he totally understood the situation, and that this was a good learning lesson for Miguel, as they always swap out people and need more than three employees in any given rental during Coachella and Stagecoach. It's unfortunate that Miguel wrote the review that he did, as if he read the check in instructions and the rental agreement, as well as the rental rules, he would not have been as frustrated. As to his other comments, the check in instructions are extremely thorough, there is a pass at the gate for each person, and there is a code to the front door for access, it's very easy to check in. If they had asked me to have someone there to walk them through the house when they checked in, I could have but the first I heard of this issue was in reading their review! The hot water heater was set to vacation mode, the check in instructions clearly state to turn the knob to 'hot' from 'vacation mode'. Both Miguel and the guests had my cell phone and we had many, many conversations both on the telephone and via text message. Any time there was an issue, I explained that my hands were tied, responded immediately to them, and thought the issues had been resolved. I'm shocked that Miguel was so venomous in his review, as when I spoke with the actual guests in the house they told me how much they loved the house and appreciated my communications with them. It's a shame that Miguel felt that I was the worst to deal with, as in reality I was consistently polite and respectful to both him and the guests that actually stayed in the house, but firm in my consistency with the rules.
