Where you’ll be

Port Austin, Michigan, United States

Port Austin is located at the tip of the "Thumb" about 2hrs north of Detroit (3hrs from Detroit airport, 2hrs from Flint Airport). It is a port town located on Lake Huron. There are fishing charters available from Port Austin and Grindstone City. Great sandy beaches in Port Austin and the drive to Caseville. Nice breakwall to fish or watch the sunrise or sunset. Port Austin has one of the best farmers markets in the state on SATs from Memorial Weekend to late SEP. It also has a great 4th of July parade, car shows, bocce ball tournaments and is a great spot to relax and enjoy the fresh breeze, sound of the waves and spectacular view of the stars at night.

I am a mechanical engineer and live in the Tampa, FL area with my wife of 29 years. We moved to FL from MI in 2008 to get to a warmer climate and we have two children in Florida universities. Emily is at the University of Florida (Go Gators!) and Conner is at the University of Central Florida (Go Knights!). We are empty nesters and are trying to take advantage of all the travel options we both have with our businesses. My wife is a lean/six sigma/ISO consultant and I have a technical sales rep business marketing engine, servo, autopilot and parachute systems into the US defense and commercial markets for unmanned aerial vehicles (drones). I represent companies in Australia, Canada and Germany and travel to these countries at least once a year. I use airbnb sometimes when I travel and we just added our home in Port Austin, MI to airbnb so people can enjoy this place when we are not there.
