Description

A minutes walk to First Lagoon, Erakor Island resort and Le Lagon resort facilities. Large yard with gardens and trees. Very quiet, safe, friendly community. Convenient to galleries, museum, surf beach, downtown, main supermarket by public transport.

We have a very large yard (3/4 acre or 2,800m2) that feels a bit rural even though its so close to town. The house is set at the back of the property on a rise, with an elevated view over Le Lagon resort gardens. It faces east so gets a lovely morning sun and prevailing tradewinds (South to Southeast) most of the time. There is another small bungalow on the property that is permanently rented out, but the layout ensures your privacy.
We lost a number of trees and plants in Cyclone Pam and are in the process of replanting our much-loved tropical flower and food gardens.
Next door is a local settlement of people from the island of Buninga. Their grandparents came here over 30 years ago as labourers to build the Le Lagon resort and they settled here, but are now being squeezed by land development. They were hit hard by Pam both in their settlement and on their home island. We have a good relationship with them, and try to assist them in any small way we can to improve their quality of life.

You can make use of the full yard. Depending if you want privacy or to socialise with the other residents here, there are multiple spaces to relax outdoors.

We love to have visitors and meet people and share the island way of life, so if we can assist or advise you in any way just let us know. If you require peace and quiet, let us know also and we can ensure that too.
We often have a shell of Vanuatu's famous kava to unwind in the evening around 5pm so feel free to join us for that.
If you would like us to prepare breakfast let us know what you prefer and we can arrange that.

See our Guidebook tab for more information on our neighbourhood.
The Erakor (1st) Lagoon is at the end of our street. There you can catch a small ferry to Erakor island resort for great swimming, snorkeling and relaxing. Le lagon resort across the road has good facilities and really nice swimming pools that day guests can use for an entry fee of 1,000vt (A$8) which is redeemable for food and drinks.
There are many restaurants within a few minutes walk or bus ride.
There are 3 good art galleries along the road to Pango village, all within 1km of our house.
Pango has a great beach, with places to surf as well.
The Vanuatu Cultural Centre and museum is a 10 minute bus ride from the house and well worth a visit.
Downtown and the main food market is also just a 10 minute bus ride away.

Extras
1. Laundry service $10 for up to 3 loads per week. Extra loads per week @$5
2. Babysitting and child minding available at $3 per hour

Luke and Belinda are lovely hosts. They addressed any issues we had promptly ( eg. Wifi dropping out...due to very heavy rain , gas hot water needed fixing...plumber turned up and fixed very quickly). The home had everything we needed. Even though our flight was late at night, Luke was there at the home to welcome us. A light breakfast was provide, which was greatly appreciated. The home is in a great spot. Le Lagon Resort is just over the road. Plenty of fans were provided, which was got quite hot and humid while we were there. We stayed in the home for 3 weeks and would happily stay there again :)

This is a clean, spacious place about 10 minutes away (by taxi) from Port Vila downtown. It was well-equipped, by local standards; mosquito-free (important given the local occasional troubles with dengue/malaria); and generally beautiful. Luke was a wonderful host and was extremely responsive whenever we needed anything.

Neat and tidy little house across the road from the Warwick resort and 200m to Erakor Lagoon and ferry to Erakor Island. Buses come by all the time. Perfect for short stays for large families like us to use as a base for exploring Port Vila and surrounds.

Luke and his wife Belinda are wonderful hosts. While the house is modest (but with everything you need including a laundry and great wifi) the experience of staying at Luke's place was truly a wonderful ni-Vanuatu experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our quiet days relaxing on the deck or hanging out in the huge garden and talking over the fence with the local neighbours or playing games with their energetic and joyful children. Luke's place is for those who want a good location to access the sights, experience day to day of life in Port Vila with the friendliest people in the world.

Luke's place is an immersive experience into the daily life on Efate. The sounds of roosters, children laughing and church singing was never far away. Luke's place was exactly what we were looking for - a place where we felt safe and could meet local people and hear their stories.

This place is totally dreamy - the setting is super idyllic, large garden, upstairs flat, large deck,. Amazing netted outdoor eating area to protect from any pesky bugs, really airy well designed house. Walking distance to supermarket and town and a stone's throw to the beautiful erakor island. Can't say enough good things about this place. Highly recommend! Also Luke and Belinda are the perfect hosts :)
