Jemma' s cottage is lovely and well situated. Loved the little quirky touches and that it is so quiet! Perfect for a retreat away from the stress of every day life.

The wee cottage was very lovely and true to the photos. Place was clean and there were many things to do, with a tv, plenty of books, etc. Jemma was a wonderfully friendly host and communication was excellent. Check in and out was also a breeze. The cottage was only about a 15-minute walk away from the city centre and we had a very comfortable stay!

Gorgeous quirky little place- perfect for a long weekend. There was ample space in the bedroom for a travel cot. Property was spotless and host couldn't be more accommodating- arranging parking and even leaving a box of musical toys for our little one to enjoy!

I loved the quirkiness of this bijou cottage, it is obviously a well loved home and I was glad I had a couple of days to experience it. Jemma was very good at keeping in touch prior to arrival, she had booked a taxi to meet me at the station which was very reasonably priced, and letting me know where I could find the key. She let me know that there was a problem with the heating, which I didn't worry about as it was August! I found the bed very comfy with lovely clean bedding. There was space to hang any clothes up in the wardrobe and ample draw space if you needed it. The kitchen was well equipped with plenty of cutlery and crockery available for use. I did wonder about the power of the shower but it worked very well, with plenty of hot water. The location was ideal, just a few minutes walk into town which is ideally placed for exploring the Tarka trail, and for taking buses into nearby Croyde and Ilfracombe. Jemma had left loads of information for things to do in the surrounding area - including bus timetables which comes in handy when you are relying on public transport. All in all I would say that this is very good value for money, and so much nicer to stay in a small characterful cottage than being restricted to just a guest room in somebody's house. Thanks Jemma!

Yes its chabby chic / cosy and not to everyones taste but generally we enjoyed our stay. Parking was generally not a problem but could be. The negatives for us ..house smells rather musty / damp , tumble drier not working , central heating and bathroom vent not working and the bed very creaky .Lacking instructions for oven / microwave .Generally a very quiet area , unfortunately for us the hall a few doors down had a wedding reception with very loud music until midnight ( not the hosts fault ! )

Response from Jemma:
I'm sorry that there were negatives for you, Angela. A new washer/tumble drier has been ordered although I didn't actually put on my listing that I had one. As the central heating must not have been used by previous guests this summer, unfortunately the water pressure had dropped and as a result the heating only came on at a low temperature. This was rectified before the next guest stayed. I will find the instruction manuals for the microwave and oven for future guests. If you had informed me during your stay, I would have been more than happy to get things fixed or to explain how to use things.

We had a lovely stay at Jemma's cottage. A real peaceful home from home. Beautifully decorated. Vintage and quirky. Plenty of store cupboard essentials in the fridge and an array of books to read. The chippy up the street is lovely and the pub is great, but definitely not a bistro. Proper old school with a pool table, jukebox and the friendliest locals. Parking was off and on for ease but never a huge issue. Barnstaple is a perfect base from which to explore the North Devon coast and Exmoor. I recommend the Valley of the Rocks, its infamous goats that featured in The Guardian the week of our visit, incorporating a day out at Lynton and Lynmouth.
