About this listing

Brand new log cabin cottage in the heart of Apple Country! Located 15 minutes from downtown Hendersonville and 25 minutes from Asheville. This cozy cabin sits about half-way up Banks Mountain with beautiful views and peaceful nature surroundings.

The space

Adanvdo (Cherokee for "heart" or "spirit") was built out of an inspiration to share the beautiful mountain on which I live. Built with the "tiny home" concept in mind, it provides everything one could want in a cabin while only taking up a 300 sq. footprint. There is a custom-made Murphy bed with a queen Casper mattress for great sleeping, and a loft with a double mattress for children or an extra guest. A small closet with hanging bar sits beside the murphy bed. All bed and bathroom linens are provided. An additional loft sits above the front porch where you can store your luggage and other gear. The cabin is furnished and decorated for comfort, warmth, and charm. For those with chemical sensitivities, I clean and wash linens with Norwex products which are chemical and scent-free.
There is a fully furnished kitchen with a 5 cu. ft. refrigerator (bigger than your typical hotel refrigerator), a 2 burner ceramic stove, and a toaster/convection oven. A new gas grill sits on the back deck to give you more cooking options. There is a 3 seat bar in the kitchen area for eating and food preparation. I keep the kitchen stocked with some condiments, teas, and coffee. All you need is a bag of groceries!
A flat screen TV is mounted in the kitchen area on a swivel arm for easy viewing from the living area or the kitchen bar. I don't have cable TV here on the mountain, so I have provided a DVD collection for movie time.
Step outside of the French Doors onto the back deck with access to a hot tub, nice rockers to soak in the view, a gas grill for a BBQ, and a fire pit area below the deck with a beautiful hand-made log bench.
My home is next door, but I am a quiet person (who works) and you will be given the utmost privacy.

Guest access

The cabin sits on my property and you are free to explore this quiet mountain neighborhood which has a road you can walk to the top of the mountain. There are a few permanent residents and other vacation homes, but all spread apart to give you a feeling of seclusion.

Interaction with guests

I can be available to give you suggestions on hikes, attractions, and great restaurants around the area, or I can give you total privacy. I work part-time but am always available by phone/text.

Other things to note

Check-in is after 3PM on the day of your arrival, and check-out is by 11AM on the day of your departure. Your parking space is directly in front of the cabin.

This was an incredible stay for my boyfriend and I!! We loved everything about Dana's cabin. The hot tub was perfect and the drive to downtown Asheville was about 25 minutes. It gave the feeling of being scenic but also not being too far away from the downtown area. Dana's suggestions for dinner and hiking were SPOT ON. We cant wait to come back!!

We LOVED this place. It was perfect to start our honeymoon. It was romantic. Dana is very accommodating and does not bother you unless you need or want her around. Answered all questions above and beyond expectations. We even forgot she was next door. The cat was also a highlight for us. We recommend drinking your morning coffee on the back porch. But really, 5 big stars for this cabin.

Dana's place is a great place and location to relax. The size of the cabin is just right for two people and has a great deck with access to a hot tub. Dana was a great host and easy to work with. We definitely plan to be back.

The cabin was quiet, quaint, and met all needs (even those you may not have anticipated). Instead of the typical rental with low-end, expendable amenities, Dana's cabin was furnished like a home. We often felt as if we were at a spa. The bed was amazingly comfortable, the hot tub soothed away tired and achy muscles, and the porch was perfect for morning coffee and a glass of wine in the evening. We even had a vacation kitty that took very good care of us during our visit. ;-) Dana was an amazing and responsive host - you could not ask for better. One recommendation to travelers - if you need a little noise when you sleep, bring a fan. It is VERY quiet. :-)

The mountain cabin is an outstanding way to experience the Hendersonville/Asheville area in a unique way that you wont EVER get by staying in town in a conventional hotel. The drive up to the cabin (especially for us flat-landers from Central Indiana) takes a bit of getting used to, but it is well worth the learning "curve" involved!! The cabin is wonderfully decorated, comfortable, clean, and equipped with all you will need. I appreciated that Dana was close by, and available when needed.

Dana User ProfileDana is a superhost.

I'm an avid outdoor person who loves hiking, gardening, and traveling. I lived in Thailand for a year teaching English and was able to travel around SE Asia. My favorite destination was Bali, Indonesia where I was able to stay for a couple of months.
I have a private practice as a massage therapist in Hendersonville, NC. The work I do is called Myofascial Release Therapy and I enjoy my work and my clients.
I love to meet new people and other travelers. This is one of the reasons I decided to become a host on Airbnb. I like to help people make the most of their trip and give them tips for exploring the area if they need it. At the same time, I can give my guests complete privacy if this is what they prefer. I make an effort to communicate this with my guests when they book so everyone is comfortable.
