This 100 year old creative, wood floor 1 bed craftsman in North Park is walking distance to dozens of breweries, restaurants and shops + a quick 15 min
drive from nearly all of San Diego. North Park is a very walkable and friendly neighborhood with lots of action both days and nights. Dogs are welcome but will require an extra $40 for cleaning.

The space

Comfortable and minimalist 1920's 1 bedroom back house that is creatively painted with wood floors, a tile shower, a full kitchen / BBQ grill and an outside courtyard with a lemon tree. Though it's stocked, it's not fully stocked to meet ALL your standards. It's a real home, not a hotel.

Guest access

Guests will have full access to the back house via a private alley entry. The 1930's house has a kitchen with a refrigerator, stove and an outside grill. There's a bathroom with a shower and a queen sized mattress in the bedroom.

Interaction with guests

I'm usually traveling but am almost always accessible via messaging. I have local help if anything immediate and urgent comes up.

Other things to note

The private entrance is through the Alley between 30th and Ohio. Dogs are welcome and can hang in the courtyard during the day, though the front house has a small dog that can be a little barky. For pets I require an extra $40 cleaning fee. It's an old house so it has it's quirks :) It's my home (not a hotel, it's worth repeating) and I love it so much. I rent it while traveling so please treat it accordingly

This place looks exactly in the pictures. It's a very basic cabin in North Park. Comfy bed and solid wifi. It is in a good location, close to everything. About a 15 minute walk to University Avenue restaurants and breweries. Much closer to the Adams Avenue neighborhood than North Park though. For short-term stays, you shouldn't have any issues, but for stays longer than a few days you'll miss a few comforts. We had no bath mat, hand towels or washcloths in the bathroom. This place also has no coffee table or dining room table. So you'll have to stand or sit on the (dirty) couch to eat breakfast/ have coffee. We didn't bother cooking dinner for that reason. You'll also miss having a dry rack or clothesline for drying clothes and towels. The kitchen is also missing some basics. We bought a blender, toaster and coffee grinder for our stay. I agree with some of the other reviewers about the cleanliness and the old dirty couches. We spent a lot of time cleaning up dust and cobwebs. There's not much airflow in the bathroom so towels get musty fast. Be ready for hot nights and the yappy dog. The no A/C thing isn't an issue for most San Diego nights, but when there is a heat wave (as there was for us) it's very unpleasant. We ended up buying a portable A/C unit out of desperation and sold it back on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN).

The place was mostly as described. It had windows that didn't close or lock all the way, which wasn't pictured or mentioned. The patio was nice to have but there were some holes in the fence (a small dog would fit through them but our dog was fine). Overall the place just seemed a little run down--the couches were scratched and the floors/rug a bit abused. The kitchen wasn't fully stocked for a longer stay (we had to buy a pot and blender). The neighborhood is nice and the neighbors are all friendly. Over the whole month we found parking to be a problem. If we got off work before 3, we could usually find a spot, but if we ever went out after 3-4 pm we would have to drive for a while trying to find parking. And often have to park a few blocks way, which was annoying. Besides all this, the host was great at communication, asking if we needed anything, and brought us fresh linens halfway through.

This was my first time visiting San Diego and I found this place to be perfect for my trip. The place is cool; lots of neat artwork, stickers, lights, and inspirational messages can be found everywhere in the home. Zoom (the host) is a part of a brand called 'Live a Great Story' that is definitely worth checking out! The location is great; it is near tons of stores, bars, breweries, grocery stores, restaurants, etc. Also, if you're into biking, this place is a few blocks away from San Diego's bikeshare, Decobike. You can rent bikes for a few hours for pretty cheap and explore all of North Park and all different parts of San Diego. If that's not your thing, or the hills are too crazy outside of North Park, you can easily uber anywhere. Overall, I was super pleased with my stay here and would definitely recommend it to anyone checking out North Park or San Diego.

Zoom was very clear and attentive to anything I asked or needed from the very start. The house is very cute and hip, with a lot of personality. It's located in North park, walking distance to the grocery store, breweries, bars and restaurants so there were days that I didn't even have to drive anywhere, and it's just a cheap Uber ride away from downtown. I stayed here a few months and this place grew to be my little home. I would highly recommend this place to anyone!

This is a nice little place in a great neighborhood- north end of North Park, with lots of eateries, breweries & grocery store in walking distance. Bus lines very accessible and easy to navigate. The space, while old and a bit funky, was adequate and good value for the price. We found the bed comfortable and the shower was outstanding. WiFi was excellent. Street parking is possible within a few blocks but very limited & restricted so we parked our car and walked or used the bus whenever we could.

I grew up in Austin, Texas but then hit the road to travel before settling in San Diego. I run an idea brand that's based on spreading inspiration so I travel often to new cities, sharing stories from people, companies and communities who are making a positive impact. But it's always amazing come home to San Diego and especially North Park!
