The space

After being on Airbnb for the past few months, we've had an amazing opportunity to meet people from all walks of life and backgrounds. One thing we've learned is what type of guests have the best "match" to our cabin so we wanted to use this space to help you determine if this place is for you! Our cabin definitely isn't a spa or a big ole house stocked with (URL HIDDEN) a simple cabin in a wooded setting and we do our very best make sure you are very comfortable have the basics that you would need so you don't need to pack your car with every little thing! But one caution, we do not have a stove in the cabin. We find the majority of folks are out and about during the day and grab something while they are out, or they want to grill outside (charcoal grill) at the cabin so they can listen to the river and enjoy the outdoors. The kitchenette, therefore, comes with a mini fridge, an electric skillet, a microwave and a coffee maker as well as a sink for washing the dishes (we provide those). We also provide sheets, blanket, pillows and two towels. If you need hand towels or like lots of blankets you might want to bring those. Also we just can't economically provide "consumables" like charcoal, fire wood, etc but we can tell you (see the What You May Want to Bring in the House Rules section) there is a market super close where you can grab them!

What we do offer we have found is thoroughly enjoyed by most river front property which we make every effort to keep mowed nicely for your stay. At the river bottom you will find a fire pit and a picnic table. There is a walk in part straight into the river that we hope to widen even further next season. We offer internet (which is not super fast, but hey you are in the country) and cable TV so you don't feel like you are roughing it. The cabin has air conditioning, heat, and two ceiling fans so that you aren't uncomfortable. There are two chairs on the "coffee porch" overlooking the river but if you want more chairs for the river you may want to bring them. We've tried to put the money it costs to operate and maintain the cabin in the right places, so although we don't use up space for a stove, we do have floor to ceiling glass walls facing the river and for the right people, that is the right choice!

Be prepared to watch deer in the fields and other critters! Also be careful to check for ticks, watch out for poison ivy and bring your water shoes for wading and fishing in the river.

In short, we think the people who have had the best fun are not those looking for a hotel, but rather those looking for a tranquil break or sheer enjoyment of the outdoors and the river! We absolutely adore it here and deeply desire everyone who comes to visit us to have been delighted to be here and feel they have received tremendous value for their experience.

We'd also love to give you some ideas about what you can do while you are here and of course we are always available for questions before you book, before you arrive, and while you are here!!

Sitting on the porch listening to the river was gorgeous. The cabin is not luxurious but has just about everything you need (apart from a corkscrew, and cooking much is tricky, but the information is clear about that). It's a great spot for exploring the Shenandoah park, and Michelle was fantastically helpful with suggestions for riding and kayak operators. We had a great time there.

This is a very quiet scenic location overlooking the river. The bed is comfortable. The host is easy to talk to. Luray which is 15 - 20 minutes away has every thing you need to buy. I rated this a five

My husband & I stayed at the riverside cabin for a relaxing weekend getaway. Michelle is super responsive and will answer you almost immediately if you reach out to her. The cabin was clean, cozy, & so cute! You have fantastic river access but the cabin is remote so definitely bring your 4 wheel drive car and be prepared to drive a bit if you want to get some outside entertainment. Most of everything you need is provided and Michelle provides an extensive list of local places to eat, shop, & explore. Thank you for a great stay!

We moved to the Shenandoah Valley a few years ago and our lives have completely changed. Every day we experience something beautiful and new in nature and with all of the little critters who surround us and the property we live on. Deer, turkeys, bunnies....I'll never forget the first time I heard a wild turkey, it was startlingly loud! The deer who come through the field by the dozens, look up at us in the house as if they are visiting the zoo and watching the people inside! Anyway, we always get a shot in the arm when we have guests...everyone is just as enthusiastic and happy as we are! We have two boys still living at home, the youngest is 7 years old so don't be surprised if he comes to say hi to you...he has loved making friends with the folks who come stay :-)
