Beautifully appointed room with view to Esthwaite Water.
Ensuite facilities with walk in shower.
Great Cumbrian breakfasts to set you up for the day and a guest sitting room with woodburning stove for cosy nights in front of the fire.
The guest bedroom, lounge and breakfast room are part of a Georgian extension (c1820) to the original farmhouse (c1695). They are all generously proportioned with high ceilings and large south facing windows.
The bedroom has en suite facilities with a walk in shower, original artwork and antique furniture and textiles. It also has a very, very comfortable bed!
There's a view over pasture and countryside to Esthwaite Water and its not unknown for deer and lambs to venture into the garden directly under the bedroom window. The only sound that you're likely to wake up to is birdsong.
I can make an adjoining bedroom available for 1 or 2 children on the understanding that they share the en suite bathroom. Please contact me for further details.
Guests have exclusive use of the breakfast/dining room and a lounge with tv, internet access and woodburner. Should the weather prove kind guests are welcome to sit out in the gardens.
Interaction with guests
I live permanently at Green End House and I'd be more than happy to point the way to places and walks that I've enjoyed. I've particular interests in arts and antiques and food and drink, I'd love to share my Cumbrian favourites.
Other things to note
I have a small dog, a Pomeranian called Lola. She's very friendly and safe with adults and children. She can be a little noisy when anyone comes to the door, especially the postman!
I don't have a long list of rules, just behave as if you were stopping with friends in the country. Hawkshead isn't really a party village (although there's regularly live music in the pubs) and pretty much everybody is in bed by midnight.
I do allow well behaved pets, just let me know in advance.
I don't allow smoking anywhere in the house.
I'm a Londoner, who moved to Cumbria in 1998. It's good to visit friends and family back in the city but I love living here for the calm, the landscapes and the everyday connection to nature and the seasons.
I've spent time in the hospitality industry, worked as a photographer and as a rugby coach and also owning and running an art gallery here in the Lakes.
Cumbria has some fantastic experiences to offer and I'd be delighted to point your way to making the most of your visit here, whether it be walking, adventuring or eating and drinking. The Hawkshead/Ambleside area is particularly well served by some great cafes, restaurants and pubs all sourcing much of their produce locally.
You'll find that the relaxed atmosphere and setting at Green End House will help you slow down and appreciate the simple beauty in nature - well, it works for me!
