About this listing

Our three-story, two-bedroom comfortable, and renovated medieval home is nestled in this picturesque village in the foothills of Mont. Ste. Victoire immortalized in the paintings of Paul Cezanne.

The space

Our three-story home is located on a side street (a short, cobblestone culdesac called Impasse des Genets) just off of the main (Grande Rue) street that runs through the village. From the street entrance, you step into a modern, open kitchen leading to the dining and living room with an adjacent laundry room with a small half-bath. The living room has a large, comfortable sleeper sofa.

Upstairs on the second floor, you'll find the master bedroom and a full bathroom (Great shower and sink) and separate toilet room. On the third floor is the second bedroom with an armoire closet and dresser. This room leads out onto the small, but lovely roof-top terrace from which you can see the Mont Ste. Victoire range and below, the vineyards. As with so many village homes, the operative word here is “petit" but comfortable. This house will comfortably accommodate two couples or, a family with children would also be perfect for this space.

Guest access

You will have access to the entire home including the terrace and use of the kitchen stocked with everything you'll need to enjoy home-cooked meals. Linens and towels are provided. The owner's personal items will be locked safely away in our walk-out storage area off the living room.

Interaction with guests

Our caretakers, Eric or Melina, will greet you with the keys and provide an orientation and answer any questions. Eric will also respond to any issues or concerns that may arise during your stay. Upon check-out, our caretakers will confirm the release and return of the security deposit.

Other things to note

Puyloubier is a picturesque Provencal village and has everything you need - a bank machine, post office, grocery store (with all the basics including fresh produce), two boulangerie's (bakeries), two restaurants (one, Les Sarments, a highly-rated “gastronomical experience,” and Café Sainte Victoire, featuring lovely patio dining for lunch and dinner daily in the center of the village square.)

Puyloubiers is a perfect place to explore la Montagne Sainte-Victoire and eastern Provence. The village has everything, what you'd expect an authentical French village should offer: spectecular views on the extraordinary landscape and the surrounding wineyards, a beautiful central place with a nice café/bistro where you can sit around a fountain, two good bakerys, a very good restaurant - and, of course, the very special light of Provence. Lauren offers a very beautiful and cosy house in the middle of the old village. Everything was true to the descriptions and pictures; very neat and functional. We especially enjoyed the evening sun on the terrace after our hiking tours. Lauren is a great host; offering a lot of useful information and trusting you with the whole house. Although we didn't meet in person, she organized everything with perfection and the communication via e-mail was easy and very friendly. We definitely recommend staying at Laurens thoroughly designed house and hope to come back at some point!

Lovely comfortable clean house with good beds and everything you need. Nice roof terrace with fantastic view on the St Victoire and the valley. Fresh crossaints on the corner. We love to come back and visit Aix-en- Provence again: nice old town in less than 30 minutes!

Singrid was wonderful to communicate with from the beginning to the end. For a host, it's always appreciated to receive an email from a guest to say they are settled and happy. Please come back again, Singrid.

Puyloubier is appealing for so many reasons -- but for me, it was principally the sense that I was in a real place where real people are going about their lives. From my daily, early morning walk to the bakery to my afternoon walk around the village, to eating at the cafe and the very fine restaurant next door, to watching the grape harvest and enjoying the amazing bounty of fall in Provence, to hiking up the ridge, to...everything...I felt a part of a place rather than a spectator in it. The house is intimate, both in size and in location, with neighbors very near. Yet there was a great deal of privacy. As a non-French speaker/reader, I struggled a bit, but the maps and brochures were helpful and I left a few extras that I gathered, in English. I hope others will leave them and even update them as they stay in the house.

We had the most wonderful stay at this place. It is the best appointed rental that I have ever been to, with nothing missing and quality appliances, a very comfortable base from which to explore Provence, and Puyloubier is surrounded by very nice vineyards. The manager of this place was very friendly and gave us the most wonderful welcome, along with tips for what to do there.
