About this listing

the house is a deliziona chapel nestled in the heart of Chainti a few hundred meters from the medieval village of Vertine and 1 km from Gaiole in Chianti.
a private garden, walking and nearby rivers.

The space

The house is a one thousand year old restored chapel, that was recently expanded and renovated, but that still maintains its original structure and character. Nested among the most beautiful Chianti hills and with a view of old towers and castles, the house is fully detached with an ample garden surrounded by terraced olive orchards. The house has a large open space living room with windows opening on the garden. There are two bedrooms. The first floor bedroom/studio has a twin/single bed and has direct access to the more private back garden. The main upstairs bedroom, in the old chapel part, still maintains the original rafters on the ceiling. This room has a queen/double bed. The first floor bathroom has both a shower and a bathtub. Two pergola roofs in front of the main entrance creates shade space with terracotta flooring where you can relax and enjoy the beautiful garden and the Chianti landscape. Next the the house there is a terraced area with BBQ where it is possible to cook and eat outside. Few country trails that pass by the house lead to beautiful woods, olive orchards, vineyard and nearby medieval villages. The Castle of Vertine, with its beautiful medieval towers, is just few hundred yards away and can be reached by foot in ten minutes. Gaiole in Chianti, the closest village, is about 1.5 miles away. Here you can find all the regular services such as the post office, the bank, grocery shops, the pharmacy, restaurants, pubs and transportation. Four miles away, Radda in Chianti, is a favorite spot for wine testing. Siena, about 18 miles away, and Florence, 35 miles, are the two main cultural and art centers nearby. Besides relaxing in the house and enjoying the Chianti atmosphere, while maybe testing some local foods and Chianti wines, you can also enjoy outdoor activities such horse back riding, mountain biking and trekking. In the area is also possible to visit castles, wineries, villages and historical towns that abound in this territory. The rent includes wi-fi internet, final laundry and cleaning fees.

We enjoyed such a wonderful stay at Piero's house. Gina met us on arrival in Gaoile, outside the church, and showed us around the house. She is so helpful and friendly. Located in a quiet part of Tuscany, surrounded by olive groves, vineyards and oak-wooded hills, Piero's house is the perfect place to relax and get away from it all. We went for long walks in the surrounding countryside, through the woodlands and farmland. Some lazy afternoons were spent just sitting out in the garden reading books and soaking up the warmth of the sunshine. Others were spent visiting Siena (only 30 minutes drive), Arezzo (an hour's drive) and the nearby hilltop village of Radda (well worth a trip). The house is very lovingly and tastefully restored and well fitted out with everything you could possibly want. Beds were very comfortable! We cooked in most evenings, eating outside at the table in the garden. Gaoile is a very nice village (5 minutes drive) with several cafes, a vegetable shop, butchers, co-op supermarket, chemist and bank ATMs, etc. We got all our supplies there. So thank you Piero (and Gina) for letting us stay at your beautiful house. We would highly recommend this house, and would love to return there someday soon. Neil and Ruth

Absolutely awesome place in the very heart of Chianti area. The old chapel is such a lovely place and we really had a great time there together with our little one. Piero and his friend Gina are great hosts and able to help out in case of any issues within minutes. We can absolutely recommend this stay to anyone who looks for an unforgettable holiday in Tuscany. Five stars + !

Piero and his friend Gina were wonderful hosts. Gina met us in Gaiole and we followed her to La Capella. We were delighted with the cottage and it's location which is surrounded with olive trees and grape vineyards. There is a castle a short walk up the hill with a small coffee/wine shop. We felt the cottage was our home away from home. We were able to visit Siena, Florence, and other hill towns as well as tour the surrounding countryside. Piero was very helpful with logistics (explained how to take the train from Montevarchi - a nearby town - to Florence to avoid the traffic.) He also met us in Siena for a coffee, which was lovely. The cottage has a fully stocked kitchen with fresh herbs growing in the yard. Gaiole in Chianti is a nice, small town where we shopped at the Coop for food and gasoline. We felt very blessed to be able to stay at La Capella for a week and highly recommend this accommodation if you enjoy the quiet countryside and a space with very good energy.

Wonderfully situated at the top of a nice hill, you can enjoy the quietness, the beauty and the views from the garden. It is a peaceful place to be. From Gaiole you visit Siena, or Brolio or the region. We did the Eroica and were overwhelmed by the enthousiasm of the region!

We spent 16 days in la capella and we really had a very good time. Piero and his friend Gina, who wellcomed us and showed us the house, were both very nice and friendly. The house is very charming and is situated in the beautiful Chianti area. The BBQ is perfect to make Bistecca Fiorentina. Mille grazie

the cottage was a wonderfull restaured house, ideal for 2 persons middle-aged. the neighborhood was very quiet, with a fantastic view over the winefields and chianti-hills. Very charming, beautifully furnished with an excellent accommodation : kitchen, bathroom, bed en terrace. Piero is a very charming and warm person, who takes really care for you : top-service. This house a true heaven for people who like the quiet peace of a marvelous little village : Gaiole in chianti. Thank you Piero !!!
