Stowford Hill is nestled in its own private valley, 2 miles from the village of Brentor on the edge of Dartmoor National Park.
We offer accommodation on a self-catered basis in a comfortable self-contained annexe adjacent to our 18th Century property. This is a peaceful haven for all wildlife. PLEASE NOTE *this is an old cottage and the ceilings are low!*

The space
Stowford Hill stands in seven acres of unspoilt rolling Devon countryside. The self-contained annexe to our 18th Century cottage is all at ground floor level, and consists of a bedroom with two single beds. For those wanting something a little cosier we can make the twin beds into a very comfortable super king double bed (6'3" x 6'3") but you will lose some space in the bedroom (please see photos). Please request this when booking. there is a large wetroom with shower (see important note) handbasin and loo, a fully equipped small kitchen, with full size electric cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave and a cosy breakfast room. The annexe is south-facing with wonderful views, and there is an abundance of wildlife to be enjoyed right on the doorstep.

Guest access
There is a small secure garden attached to the annexe, to keep visitors dogs in and our dogs out. It has a small table and chairs, where you can relax with a glass of wine and enjoy the sunset. There is a secure shed for bike storage.
We welcome visitors with disabilities; we are both ex health professionals, so we understand your needs. Please contact us to discuss further.

Other things to note
PLEASE NOTE
*Our water supply is from a borehole, and as such the water pressure is not great. This means that the shower is certainly not up to mains "rain-forest" standard, and results are often variable- you have been warned! However, it is very good drinking water and is tested annually. We have just had a full size cooker and fridge/freezer installed after listening to guests feedback. Also a new bedroom carpet, larger TV, and we have replaced the old night storage heaters with oil fired central heating, so it’s definitely warm and cosy in the colder months. The annexe has its own WiFi but due to our location it’s not brilliant and no mobile reception here but you can get signal just a short walk away
*This an old cottage and the ceilings are low!
ANIMALS- We have one very friendly Small dog and 2 horses. We hope you like animals!
*Please mention if you are bringing a dog/dogs as we have 2 house rules. 1. They are not allowed into the bedroom area but a stairgate is put across the doorway so they can see you
2. Dogs must not be left unattended in the annexe unless crated
*There is a £10 surcharge per dog

My work: Retired
My husband Mark and I are retired. We live here at Stowford Hill with a horse called Gornie, a pony named Ben and our little dog Lily. Mark has a bit of an offshore-sailing history, but I prefer to keep my feet firmly in the stirrups. We are pretty outdoorsy types, and love wild landscapes- so our home here on the edge of glorious Dartmoor fits us like a glove.... We look forward to welcoming you. "Carpe Diem"!
