Interaction with guests

Our local House Manager speaks both Italian and English and will meet you upon arrival with keys and parking pass for your car. He will then take you through the apartment explaining how everything works, where everything is located and answer any questions you may have. The House Manager will also be available to you during your whole stay to make recommendations, give directions, or any other concierge type service.

The neighbourhood

Our apartment and neighborhood are unique within Montalcino in that you are only 10 steps from a loading-unloading area, a 3 minute walk to a major grocery store, a 2 minute walk to your private parking area, a 3 minute downhill walk to two of the best restaurants in the village and a 4 minute walk to the bakery, fresh pasta store, coffee bar and all the shops.

Getting around

We recommend talking a winery tour, try biking through the countryside, taking a cooking class, visiting Pienza for the Pecorino Cheese, and driving the famous Val d' Orcia for some of the most beautiful scenery you will ever see. All of this and more will be outlined for you in detail with the extensive information packet that we send to our guests after they have booked.

Other things to note

Our location within Montalcino is perfect for a visit to any of the 250+ local wineries plus wine bars to taste the famous Brunello di Montalcino wine. Enjoy some great Tuscan food and wine in the town's many restaurants. Walk through the charming medieval hilltop town and visit its many nice shops, selling local produce, wine, meat products, and honey as well as artisan products. And try locally made ice cream from the gelaterias. Enjoy the wonderful views of the famous south Tuscan countryside from the 16th century fortress and step inside a local museum or church for some traditional culture. Or just have a coffee or glass of wine in Piazza del Popolo to watch life pass by.

Our location within Tuscany is perfect to explore the famous spas in the neighboring town of Bagno Vignoni (25 minutes away) or to go for a hike or bike ride through some truly enchanting countryside. Try out the beach and seafood opportunities in Castiglione della Pescaia (75 minutes away) or enjoy the outdoor swimming pools in Buonconvento and Bagno Vignoni (20-25 minutes away). Visit the famous 9th century Sant' Antimo abbey (15 minutes away) or explore charming Renaissance towns like Montepulciano (45 minutes away) and Pienza (30 minutes away). The latter also doubles as the center for the Tuscany pecorino (sheep milk) cheese production. There are excellent shopping opportunities at the Val di Chiana outlet village (45 minutes away) or The Mall, perhaps Italy's best designer outlet village (90 minutes away). And there's always Siena (45 minutes away), the best preserved medieval city in at least Tuscany and with a great atmosphere. Other Tuscan gems like Chianti, San Gimignano, and Florence are 70-90 minutes away.

Great location in downtown Montalcino! Mauro was extremely accommodating and very helpful during our visit. We highly recommend this location for couples or small families. Couldn't have asked for a better location and cleaner place. We look forward to returning in the future!

We loved Montalcino and this apartment! Mauro met us let us into the apartment and show us around. He was extremely friendly and helpful. The place was a great mix of modern and rustic with breathtaking views of Montalcino. The bed was extra comfortable and all the amenities we needed were right there in the apartment. Not only would we recommend this apartment when we return to Montalcino this is where we would stay! Thank you so much for everything!

This is a great location in Montalcino. The owner sent me information about the town such as good restaurants and places to hang out. The bed was very comfortable and the heater worked. Mauro, the host was responsive when I had questions.

Look NO FURTHER! This apt is really so wonderful in so many ways...I'll try to explain... it was in perfect condition, so impeccably decorated, truly clean and cozy, spacious and just delightful to live in. The location of the apt. in the darling town of Montalcino is fabulous. Parking our rental car was not a problem thanks to Mauro showing us where to park. The Grocery store has everything that you will need and it is just a short walk away. The town has at least one great Bakery, plenty of lovely and reasonably priced restaurants serving the most delicious food, wine shops, and many other shops for those who love to browse or buy. Mauro the house manager is a most wonderful person and he was very helpful in all and any situations. He made a great impression on us and gave us great tips and advice... as did the owners Andrea and Ron. We used the apt as our home base and took daily car trips to many of the darling surrounding towns and villages, and wineries too! Our favorite places were, Bagnoregio (The City in the Clouds) you must go there if driving from Rome to Motalcino, Siena, San Gimignano, Pienza, Banfi Winery (and eat at the Taverna there!) Sant'Angelo in Colle, and Montalcino itself which was so delightful to explore by foot. We could have stayed for weeks and not been board. Maybe we will do that next time, because we shall return... it is that good of a place... it makes you long to go back! Oh, we also took a fantastic Cooking Class in Montalcino from Raffaella Cova (Lunch with and that was a truly magnificent way to spend most of the day! Our deepest thanks to our hosts and to Mauro for a dreamy place to call "home" while we vacationed in Tuscany! Go, go, GO! You will not be sorry that you picked this apt. as your "home away from home." Your friends from Texas - Mari and Scott Teising

The kitchen was well equipped and great for cooking meals at home! The bed was cozy and the place was well kept. We can't wait to come back!

Of our four stops in Italy, this was our favorite. The apartment was comfortable, stylish, and scenic. Everything was better than pictured and described. The house manager, Mauro, was very helpful and accommodating. Montalcino is a special place and we hope to return some day.

From Southern California. My wife and I love good food, wine and travel. We rent out our charming cottage in Glen Ellen when we are not there ourselves.
