We stayed at Melanie's home in August 2017 and we were very happy with the location and home. It is on a beautiful lot facing the ocean with all the amenities of home. Melanie has gone above and beyond to ensure that her guests have a wonderful stay. We will definitely return! Michelle Bown

It was a wonderful spot. We all loved the property. The beach 5 minutes away (Johnsons pond) was amazing. It had singing sand! We went there every night and we were the only ones there. The only thing that could have been better was if we knew ahead time that we were 15 minutes off of the main road, so we were a little further from our destinations than we had planned. Perfect though if you want to relax and chill! Our dog was very happy. He had lots of room to run. The kids loved the rocky beach for finding treasures. Great spot!

This was our second stay at Melanie’s and the weather was warmer and dryer. We were delighted to take full advantage of the screened porch this time and ate every meal out there. We also had a picnic on the beautiful sandy beach at Johnston’s Pond which is a short drive away. Another added pleasure was the hammock in the old apple tree. For peace and quiet away from the internet I recommend a stay at the farmhouse on the shore.

Everything about this spot was amazing! We saw dear, beavers, porcupines, bunnies, frogs, crabs, and hawks. We played in the water, BBQ'd, had bon fires and even snuck in a few rounds of Candyland. The house was well equipped and easy to navigate. The beds were super comfy.

To say the location is beautiful is an understatement. The property is magnificent. The house is lovely and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Melanie was very helpful and welcoming.

The grounds and views at this house are spectacular for nature watching or quiet contemplation. (The views are fine from indoors, too, if it's rainy or cool.) We saw seals, seabirds, a porcupine and hummingbirds, plus rabbits. The house itself is a renovated older place with lots of room. The bedrooms are upstairs, along with a half bath; the main bath is downstairs. The kitchen is well equipped. No wifi, as others have noted, and no microwave, but we didn’t mind. There was no instruction book, but we figured things out and Melanie was very responsive.

The Sable River Farmhouse is secluded in a natural beautiful location by the seashore. The home is clean and comfortable with a three season screened porch. The beach is 1.7 miles down the road -often we were the only people on the large beach in mid-July. Beautiful birds and wildlife.

I am an artist and I love the out doors, nature, gardening, hiking and skiing. I recently sold my farm in Ontario where I boarded horses and moved to Nova Scotia to be able to enjoy the ocean and scenery with my son as well as having more time to do art.
