Our apartment is located in a gated apartment complex, located on the coast of Montego Bay in Jamaica. A simple set up, a completely remodeled modern apartment, a.c'd, lcd tvs, Caribbean breeze and sunshine; a pool. Step to the natural beach. 17 minutes to the "big" city.

The space

It's quiet, very safe (24 hour security), and you can choose between a natural beach or pool. You can take a local taxi from our gate to go into town for less than $2/trip. We're right beside the all-inclusives, but just a LOT quieter. The exterior white washed walls always need painting but it's kinda romantic especially at night - wonderful views. Inside the rooms are really nice, as are the people there.
BTW- - if you rent on a long-term rate (base rent + electric), note electric costs are $0.47/kwh, considerably higher than North american rates) but still a deal overall for long term renters (one month+).

Guest access

You can use everything in the apartment. Just don't break anything.

Interaction with guests

Not much - after she checks you in, you can call Karen back if you have any issues - she give you her cell phone number. That's about it - we give people space.

Other things to note

The exterior of the buildings are always in need of a paint job. But the inside of the apartments are very nice, like the pix. Wifi is available on a per diem rate, but must be reserved. Also, longterm stays (i.e. 4 weeks+) must pay own electric - this enable us to keep our cost very low.

Air Conditioning

Extra people £8 / night after 2 guests

We enjoyed sitting by the pool. We learned that you pay for your fish when they deliver. Security was very good good about getting our money back. There is alot of maintenance and repairs being done. It will be interesting to see the grounds in a few years to see the progress. Taxis are very easy to find and very inexpensive to go to the store. Was fun buying lobster and fish on the beach. Since we didn't get the place we rented it is hard to give a review other than it did meet our needs but maybe not our expectations.

We had a wonderful 2 weeks here and it was central for our activities. It is a safe and quiet place with views that are awesome. Great hosts enhanced the visit.

I very much enjoyed staying at this apartment. Everything was perfect and exactly as described. I was greeted upon my arrival and if I had any issues my call was promptly answered. The apartment is very clean and has A/C in both the living room and separate bedroom. Flat screens in both also. Outside of the balcony is a nice ocean view. If you are looking for an all-inclusive stay this would not be it but if you like a little independence and being able to do what you want then this apartment is perfect and I doubt the price can be beat. I definitely would stay here again.

Debra responded to most of our questions in a timely manner. The exterior of the apartment building is as described. The beach area have the potential to be great, however it does need cleaning up. The people we came into contact with around the area were very friendly. The apartment is good for a night or two. It is small but was suitable for the three people in my party. During our stay the air conditioning leaked a lot and wet some of the clothes in my suitcase. The problem with the AC was known by Mitzie, even before we checked in. It did not get fix until around 9pm on the second night of our stay. Granted Mitzie washed the AC filter during our first night to see if the dirt in the filter was the problem. It would have made for a more comfortable stay if we didn't have to wait for the repairman, both night of our two night stay. Don't use the washing machine, it does not work. The apartment, like the beach have great potential, it just need a little sprucing up.

I never met Debra but she gave me a very good, detailed synopsis of how things would go when I was approved, and she replied very quickly to my questions. I would not recommend these places if it's your first time in Jamaica!! If you do decide to go here, definitely do research so you feel comfortable moving around in the area first. I was very out of my element at first and wasn't very prepared for a lot of it. The rooms are nice but the area seems a little bit haunted...maybe we were there in the off-season but there was hardly anyone around. That did mean that we had the whole, huge pool to ourselves though! The location isn't great, considering the 15 minute cap ride every time we wanted to go anywhere, but public transportation cabs run about $1.50 per person one way so the price wasn't bad. Basically, I did enjoy my stay. My only advice is to ask a lot of questions when you arrive, make sure you get Mitzie's phone number, and do research before you leave to plan your trip, because there is no front desk staff to talk about options with! Enjoy!

Host not available at check-in. Not an owner. Manages many units for owners at a large, old resort in need of renovation.

I recently stayed here for a month and had a lovely time. Debra lives in Toronto but alerted Mitzi to my arrival and I received a great welcome. The complex is an older building but absolutely charming. You feel that you are experiencing the real Jamaica and not some generic tourist place. My cousins joined me at Seacastles for part of the stay and I know they loved it too. The security guards and other employees-- Rupert, Steve and Egan-- were wonderfully helpful with tips on everything from finding a driver/guide (thanks, Egan!) to locating a working desk for my cousin David (thanks, Rupert) to reminding me when I'd left a window open in my rental car (thanks, Steve!) By the time we left, we felt like part of the Seacastles family. The beach is like a private beach and the pool is terrific-- I miss it terribly! I would go back again tomorrow if I could. Thanks Debra, Mitzi and everyone.

We are a mother and daughter team from Canada with Jamaican roots. We love to travel back and forth between Toronto and Montego Bay often for business and enjoyment. So we've purchased and remodeled a few apartments located on the North Coast! Looking forward to helping out any travelers visiting beautiful Jamaica - happy to give advice and recommendations!
