The good: this place is within walking distance of the Malecon and its restaurants/shops/beach. The A/C worked fine. It was livable for the night, but a bit bare bones, and we weren't upset that we wouldn't be staying there for much longer. The less good: * It was a bit hard getting an answer about checking in early, which was frustrating -- I didn't hear back until a few hours before the requested check-in time. However, they were able to accommodate us and were nice about it. * The listed address, when plugged into maps, shows a pin at a four way intersection a few blocks away. When I called the folks who manage the property they didn't seem to be aware of this, and we had a back and forth before I was able to point myself in the right direction. A cross street would be helpful. * There was something to be desired in terms of cleanliness. On the face of it the place seemed clean, but the inside of the fridge was dirty, and the shower stall was a bit slick with shower scum. Of greater concern was that the shower didn't heat up at all, and the tap was held closed with a bungee cord attached to the showerhead. * Bring your own soap/shampoo/etc. -- we were only provided with small bar soaps. I know that Vieques is a bit light on affordable options for places to stay (it seems the choices were hostel-type accommodations or an expensive hotel). Even so, this place was the price of the other main island spots we stayed in during our trip in PR, but with fewer amenities and no personal contact with the hosts save for text messages.

Good, exactly as described. Rated at 4/5 because a) Shower maxed out at luke-warm & b) lots of noise from other guests in other rooms (this is more of a hotel than a rental property).

The view of the South Shore and Island Hills from the terrace is wonderful. Isabel, the property manager, was always just a text away and helped with problems like a broken dryer. The apartment was a bit sparse based on what we expected from the glowing listing description. Not much of a sitting room area, but bedroom and the little kitchen were super clean. As with anyplace residential in Puerto Rico, bring earplugs because of roosters and dogs at night.

You'll have a great time staying at Shawn's. This place makes for a nice rest after having fun all day on the island and you will feel at home. Although we did use a car we also enjoyed being able to walk many of the places of interest from Shawn's. Noise from adjacent guests does filter in so if you're sensitive do bring ear plugs.

Shawn's place is in the perfect location to explore Esperanza, which is the cutest town on Vieques.

If you're staying in vieques, I highly recommend this spot. It's nothing flashy, but it's exactly what we needed. It's a short walk down to the beach and the strip, where there are a whole host of fantastic restaurants. The shower wasn't working perfectly when we were there (they were waiting for a part to fix it), but we made do. Other than that, it was great!

I was disappointed for the cost. Very bare bones and not very close to the main strip. There was no TV and nothing comfortable to relax inthe living room area. I had to keep asking for information and even the morning of the rental. They tried to phone or text that day but I am not from Vieques I don't have cell service which I told the owner . That I needed to find wifi to talk.

My name is Shawn and I've enjoyed hosting guests from all over the world since 2012. I'm a news junkie, foodie and love reading. I was born and raised in Orlando, but moved to Boston three years ago. I absolutely love Boston and all it has to offer. From the culture, great culinary treats, to the many open spaces and historic sites. My second home is Fort Lauderdale and Vieques, PR. Can you say warm weather!

I spend most of my day running my small property management company which specializes in vacation rental and corporate housing management. Does your Airbnb take up too much of your time? Want to put it on autopilot? Shoot me a message, we would love to help :)

Feel free to reach out with any questions. I try to respond as quickly as time allows and am always available for my guests!
