Slaughter Beach is a world famous birding habitat. You can marvel at the hundreds of bird species including the endangered Red Knot as they stop to feed on Horse Shoe crab eggs on their way north. Most people thrill at the spectacle while others are a little horrified by the crab's primitive looks. They are completely harmless but can cause the water's edge to be a littered with their shells.
Watch for the just hatched baby turtles headed to the Marvel Preserve just behind us in early summer. Slaughter Beach is surrounded by preserves to all three non water sides and Eagles can be seen nesting at the south end.

As long-time vacationers and lovers of the Delaware Beaches, my family and I were so excited to acquire and make this unique property available to guests for the summer of 2016. Although we reside in McLean VA full-time, we have family that live in Lewes DE that help us with hosting guests at 379 Bay Ave - affectionately known as the "sandcastle".
My profession is Community Relations and I welcome a challenge and a good project. I also enjoy having the opportunity to help people.
I enjoy good food, good wine and great company. I love to travel~ especially to the countries of my heritage- Italy and Germany.
But most important to me is my family- I have 3 daughters, a son-in-law and 4 grandchildren, lots of extended members and very importantly my Aussie Shepherd/Border Collie Mix- Foster!
