About this listing

Converted hayloft on what used to be a Farm about 15 mins to Lewes & 25 to Brighton(traffic depending).Near castles & other areas of interest.Note we are in a rural location so if you want to be much closer to cities we are not for you.Perfect for walking, site seeing & R&R.Small staircase to mezzanine twin bedroom not suitable for small children. Travel cot provided. The Hayloft is near to a road which at times can be noisey. We are in the country, at certain times of year there are more Insects.

The space

Beautiful converted hayloft with traditional wood burner. The Hayloft has a small garden with BBQ and table and chairs. Inside the Hayloft it sleeps four people and has a bathroom with a bath and electric shower. A full functioning kitchen and plenty of room to cozy up in front of the TV.

Guest access

The Hayloft is on the grounds of an old farm (no longer a working farm), please feel free to explore the garden. Please note that there are two ponds and a stream and farming equipment around the farm so children should be supervised at all times. The second bedroom in the Hayloft is on a Mezzanine floor with narrow staircase and is not suitable for small children and possibly people with disabilities.

Interaction with guests

Mr and Mrs West live at the farmhouse and will be able to help you with anything that you need. We try to give you as much privacy as possible and therefore have left manuals for the kitchen etc in the Hayloft but of course we are here if you need us. We will change your bed sheets and towels after seven days , we can change them for you or give to you to change yourself. There is also access to a washing machine and clothes horse and ironing and ironing board in the utility room next to the Hayloft.

Other things to note

The Hayloft is near to a road so there can sometimes be some noise from it, though we find (in our opinion and from our experience) it is not troublesome or constant noise and never troubles us with sleeping or relaxing. We are in a rural location and surrounded by farms with livestock, because of this at certain times of year there will be insects and flies around. We do our best to keep them to a minimum, however this is the country so note there will be flies and creepy crawlies.

The Hayloft is a great place to stay. We almost regretted to have a full day planned hiking around Seaford and Brighton because we didn't have time to light the woodburner with a cup of tea. Communication with the owner is flawless (e-mails were answered very swiftly) and because of the keysafes arriving late or departing early is at the guests convenience. The house and it's interiour are well maintained, the kitchen and bathroom are well stocked and clean. It was all we hoped for and all that was promised with the added benefit of good quality. This place is an asset to the English countryside and to AirBNB!!! The only downside is that there is only 1 Hayloft.

Our time here was for 6 nights and we treasured each one! Upon coming to the location it was easy to find with the wonderful direction provided to us. The house looks just like the pictures in cleanliness and design. Our family of 4 adults and 1 toddler fit easily in this home. The house came with a lightly stocked refrigerator and a yummy dessert! It was so welcoming coming into the house after a long journey (we drove from Scotland) to this warm, inviting ambiance of the Hayloft. Our toddler loved the freedom she was able to have on this property since it is completely fenced in. The Hayloft back patio is surrounded with a cute fence that acted perfectly to contain our daughter. The house served as an oasis for us during our travels to: Dover Castle, White Cliffs of Dover, Stonehenge, Canterbury Cathedral, Brighton, The Royal Pavilion, Old Sarum, Salisbury Cathedral, Jurassic Coast: Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove and ending our stay with a bus tour in London (take a train to London, don't drive). Jack and Theresa are wonderful hosts! They checked in on us everyday briefly to ensure we were doing ok and had everything we needed. We loved chatting with them! The neighborhood is quite and peaceful, perfect to unwind in after a lot of touring. There are some delicious restaurants under a 10 min drive away. Groceries and gas are just as easy to get to. We HIGHLY recommend the hosts, the house and the town!

The Hayloft was an incredibly cozy experience! The directions to the loft were clear and very easy to follow. Upon our arrival check in was so smooth and we were welcomed by a handful of delightful amenities thanks to Sally. The loft itself was clean, well equipped, comfortable, & exceeded our expectations. The surrounding landscapes are vast and calming, and we definitely recommend star-gazing at night! We were also fortunate enough to meet Sally's parents, who were extremely charming & sweet.

This is a lovely barn conversion next to Sally-Ann's parent's house. Big double bedroom. Loft with two single beds. Great open plan living room with wood burning stove. The place backs onto lovely fields with public access. The bluebells were out in force when we stayed. My kids loved the place. Would come back in a heartbeat.
