The Steading Cottage at Holmhill was once the stables and groom’s quarters to the elegant Georgian main house built by the Drumlanrig Castle Estate. It offers a cosy and beautifully appointed country retreat with breathtaking views over the beautiful Nith Valley and surrounding farmland, renown for its walks, wildlife and fishing. The space
The Steading Cottage is a perfect retreat in which to relax and enjoy the gorgeous views of the idyllic countryside of the Nith Valley and the Carsphairn and Scaur hills to the west.

The cozy living room comprises a well equipped kitchen with large dining table flowing through to the sitting area with comfortable sofas to relax and enjoy the wood-burning stove. French windows take you out from the sitting area to the beautifully appointed private patio and enclosed gardens beyond.

Both bedrooms have super king sized beds and built in wardrobe, whilst the master bedroom has french doors to the garden an en-suite with shower. There is a family bathroom with a large shower.

Close by there is an attractive path following the River Nith which leads to the spectacular Drumlanrig Castle and grounds, while a recently built ‘active pathway’ provides an all-weather safe route to Burnhead and Penpont. With storage available for bikes and angling equipment the Steading Cottage provides the perfect base from which to explore this very attractive part of Dumfriesshire, whether on foot, bike or by car. Thornhill is a short walk away and offers an excellent hotel with bar and dining rooms, a number of pubs, cafes, takeaways, convenience stores and a chemist.

Parking for two cars is on the courtyard adjacent to the cottage.
