1) Overbooking issue. Please confirm, reconfirm, and confirm your reservation again. This host overbooked the accommodation but didn't inform me about it until I arrived. I found it very inconvenient to be placed in an alternative accommodation that was much farther away for the first of 3 nights. This was really not OK with me, but I had not other alternative since it was peak tourist season. I also didn't feel comfortable complaining or asking for a partial refund because I feared having the entire booking cancelled and I knew there were no hotel rooms to be had. 2) Privacy. The room I stayed in was not very private, if you care about such things. It's located right off the front door, so there's a lot of noise and light outside. There is a small screen, but the lower third of the windows are not obscured, so other guests can stoop down and peer into your room. (And, actually, one person did!) So if you care about privacy, this is not the place for you.

This house is located at the eastern part of Tokyo, quite near (though not walking distance for me) to some sightseeing spots. The host was very friendly and gave good advice for our trip there. It nevertheless should be pointed out that this is not a strict stay-in-other-person's-house type of accommodation since this house is redesigned not only to accommodate the host themselves but also quite a number of guests simultaneously, and is better to be regarded as a family hostel. That would therefore bring the issue of public sharing, and late night etiquette. I happened to stay with guests who were not very polite nor gentle to the other guests, so it is not a totally satisfying experience personally.

We felt super welcomed. There were a few other guests and it seemed to me everyone was well handled and enjoying the place. Everything is nice. It is a beautiful place with a quiet and relaxed vibe. Any questions or requests we had were courteously addressed. Not that I had a problem but if you are a light sleeper or sensitive to noise maybe get a quieter room upstairs if that is of concern to you. There are lots of a rooms and each with little differences. Ours was a Japanese tatami room that was a cool treat for us to experience. It is in walking distance to Nanzen-Ji temple which was my favorite in all of Japan. It is also close to bus stops and a supermarket all easily walkable. This is a unique place worth checking out.
