Description

The space

Luxury, cozy and stylish are the words for this accommodation. The house features vintage furniture and artworks. Balcony has a gorgeous view, where you can lay down on the daybed or even in a hammock if you want a feeling of a bird. Play guitar by the fire-pit, or keyboard in the cozy living room. Watching video on big screen under stars is an another option ( please ask ). BBQ? yes, on under-covered deck.

Three bedrooms. Room 1 has a queen size bed, room 2 has two king single beds, room 3 has one double size bed.

Deep bath tub, dishwasher meet every holiday seekers' desire.

Please explore our large backyard, a forest garden in progressing.

A bottle of champing or wine, cereal, coffee, tea, sugar and milk are provided.

Linen, towels and toilet paper are provided.

Convenient location with walking distance to Leura station. Close to WF lake where is the perfect place for family to have a picnic , walking or kayaking.

Guest access

You can park the cars at the ground level with two spaces or at the off-road car port. Entrance is at the middle of driveway.

Interaction with guests

The accommodation in offer is the first level of the property, with ground level is the mountain retreat of the owner AND it is vacant during your stay, so yes you own the whole house!

However, they can be contactable for advice or emergency.

The neighbourhood

This is at the north side of the Leura close to Great Western Highway. The neighborhood are bushy, and they overlook the valley, and hideaway from each other.

Getting around

Being very close to the garden town of Leura, you do not have to have car to get here. 10 minutes walk to Leura train station, cafe and bistro. 3 minutes driving to katoomba town. 5 minutes to WF lake and Leura cascading walk track.

Other things to note

This park of Queens Road is at the side road of the main road. You have to come from Great Western Highway, and once turned into Queens Road, immediately turn right and then left to the side road. We are the 3rd property.

The driveway to the property let you feel that you are deep in the forest, in the meantime you have to pay the additional attention while driving, especially down to the car parking spaces at the ground level. When parking the car, head to the building make it easier to get out.

Camp fire on fire-pit is at near car park, and usable with the safely in mind and extinguish it completely with the water nearby. Don't use it when windy.

When exploring the backyard forest garden, please also be mindful of the steps, slippery ground and thorny plants, like blackberry.

Smoking is limited to the outdoors, in deck of balcony.

Pets is okay as far as they are kept outdoor, but there is no good space for them to run if they do not used to the forest.

This cottage is in a great location for those are want to explore the Leura, Katoomba and the upper Blue mountains area. It is easy walking distance to Leura shops and restaurants. The cottage easily caters for 6 adults and has a nice layout. The location is very picturesque and the bush facing balcony is a great place to have breakfast. It would be a nce place to stay summer or winter.

Jeff's house is a comfortable place to stay when visiting the Blue Mountains. It is situated in between Leura and Katoomba, just off the main dual carriageway that runs west from Sydney. We arrived by public transport. As detailed in the property's description, it is a 10 minute walk from the station. There are grocery shops, cafes and touristy outlets in Leura. All these can easily be reached on foot. Much of the tourist sites are situated in Katoomba, however. This is a longer walk and would be more challenging. If you are planning a tourist trip that focuses mostly on Katoomba, I'd recommend arriving by car. Jeff was a very pleasant and easy host to communicate with. And the house has a number of positive features. The view from the balcony is lovely. The house is quirkily decorated - a little random and kitsch for my taste, but it might appeal to others. The house is probably value for money. It is certainly cheaper than many other properties listed in Leura and Katoomba. But it is not a bargain. There are a few things that future bookers should be aware of. The house is quite close to the train line and there can be a fair bit of consequent noise. The trains seem to begin around 5am. This could be a challenge for light sleepers. Although clean, we felt the house could have been a little better prepared for our arrival. It gave the impression of having stood empty for some time. The yard and the balcony had not been swept. We stayed in Jeff's house during an unusually hot spell - early 30s. The house is not well equipped for dealing with heat. The central ceiling fan does not work. The replacement floor-standing fan was not as effective, we think. Some of the bug screens have rips and limit the ability to keep all the windows and doors open after dark. All in all, an OK stay. Not great, but not below standard either.
