'The Cabin' is a fully refurbished two bedroom cottage on Mersea Island, Colchester, Essex. It is close to the sea on a much sought after quiet lane. There are great walks and bike rides either along the sea wall or on the beach, and some fantastic seafood eateries. Mersea Island is the most easterly inhabited island in the UK, situated off the coast of Essex and 9 miles southeast of Colchester.
There are an abundance of things to do on the Island covering approximately seven square miles.

House Rules

The house is child friendly (we have 3 ourselves). There are plenty of board games etc. We accept dogs as long as they are well house trained. They have to stay in the kitchen at night and are not allowed upstairs (there is a baby gate to close so they can't creep up!). I'm afraid that the bunk beds only take an adult on the bottom.

We spent a wonderful week with fantastic weather in The Cabin in Mersea. The location was perfect for a family with a toddler who was kept perfectly happy throwing stones in the water on the beach. The house was very comfortable and even had airconditioning - not something you would expect to need in the UK but our visit coincided with a heatwave so was very welcome. So all together I recommend this accommodation and I hope to come back again.

It was a pleasure to have you stay at The Cabin, you certainly got some fantastic weather and am glad that you made use of the air conditioning, it can get very hot upstairs in the summer. I have taken your other comments on board and will talk to the house manager about supplying extra tea towels etc. We hope to see you back again soon. Emma

The cottage was beyond charming. We had a fabulous stay and the 'The Cabin' was so comfortable, warm and everything that one wanted or needed was thought of. Emma was a lovely host, even though we did not meet, I felt we connected. She was gracious and always available. 12 out of 10 for the whole experience. We will be back.

A beautiful house on a very quaint little lane leading straight onto the main coastal road with a lovely view of the sea when you walk down the lane. The house has been beautifully renovated into a coastal cottage. We loved staying at the house and in Mersea; lots to do and lovely fresh seafood. We would highly recommend.

We are a family of 5 and enjoy an active outdoor life, walking, cycling, riding, sailing and skiing. We love cooking and especially sea food. We live in the countryside and love an open fire and a good movie too!
