This Unique Summer House was finished in 2010. This location is in one of the best vacation areas in the country. It is in the middle of the famous Golden Circle Route.

The house was built to reflect the Icelandic landscape and complement the small vegetation of moss and trees in the old lava-field. It is a beautiful little gem within a great area of the country.

The space

This unique property was built to reflect the Icelandic landscape and complement the small vegetation of moss and trees in the old lava-field.

The property is also very green and sustainable. The house is kept warm by geothermal water that runs through pipes in the floor keeping it warm and comfortable year-round. For those extremely cold days in the winter, we also have additional heaters that can be placed in the sleeping area and living room to further heat the house. All warm water in the house comes from a local geothermal hot-spring and the cold water is natural cold spring water from a nearby well. The electricity in the house is generated by geothermal energy from a nearby power-station.

Please note that we do not have a landline at the house so we cannot offer WiFi included in our rates. We can have a WiFi box delivered to the house but it will be at a surcharge as it is owned by a third party.

The house has 2 bedrooms with queen size beds as well as 1 small bedroom for a single child or possibly an adult that is under 5.5 ft or 165 cm. Upstairs there is a space which sleeps 2-3 sleeping bags. We have a queen size air-mattress that can be used upstairs.

The house also has a washer and dryer as well as a full kitchen with dishwasher/stove/oven.

The property is quite spacious and has a small children playground in the back.

From mid-August the property has crow berries and wild blueberries growing all around the cottage.

Laugarvatn is 15 minutes drive (Fontana Spa, Lindin Restaurant, N1 Gas Station and a small grocery store).

Geysir is 10 minutes away (Geysir, Strokkur, Geothermal area, Geysir Center, Camping ground, Souvenir Shop).

Gullfoss is 25 minutes away.

Þingvellir (Parliament Plains) is 40 minutes away.

Skalholt is 25 minutes away.

Kerid is 30 minutes away.

Service Center with a small grocery store, pool, restaurant, camping ground, mini-golf, 9-hole golf course, horseback riding and much more is 2 minutes away.

This is a unique property for travelers wanting to have a one of a kind vacation.

This little house is just wunderful. It is a little bit off the beaten path - so the perfect location to escape the crowds of tourists on the golden circle. Never the less it is the perfect location to explore the area since every bigger attraction is within driving distance. With his detailed instructions and all of the reccommendations Palmi made us feel like beimg at home. Thank you Palmi - we already miss uthild and your house!

There are airbnbs that are a great house, and there are some with fantastic locations--and then there are some with wonderful hosts. This place is all three! We didn't get to meet Palmi until the end of the trip, but he was just a very considerate host, great with communication, and very attentive. He's genuinely interested in his guests having the best stay in Iceland possible. My son really enjoyed meeting him at the end of his trip and took a lot of time talking with him about things he was interested in. I really appreciated that. Now for the house. Well you can tell by the pictures how magical it is--and it is even more so in person. We loved our stay. What I didn't really realize until we arrived was how convenient it was to so much. I think it was kind of out in the middle of nowhere (and it FEELS like that when you're in the house which we loved) but you can easily get to gas and food and of course, to all the beautiful hikes and waterfalls and all that Iceland has to offer in no time. Perfect location for the Golden Circle and a hop away from the town of Selfoss, which we loved. We even used it as our base to do an entire one day drive all down and across the Southern coast and back in one day. Long day but doable! Palmi's very organized and sends you a manual with everything you need to know ahead of time and I really appreciated that as well as the easy key checkin/checkout. And his restaurant recommendations were great. HIs coffee maker was also a happy sight. :-) Thank you for everything, and we'll be back!

Amazing! This place is lovely and we will definitely be back. It is a bit pricey compared to others but you cannot beat the location and the building design and decor. Palmi was a fantastic host and he provided us with a professional level of instructions with a comprehensive list of nearby 'points of interest'. We contacted him numerous times before and during the trip and he was nothing but courteous and helpful and always got back to us within a few minutes

Very interesting and stylish house in lovely grounds, just as described by owner. Kitchen very well equipped, even a drawer of herbs and spices! Handy blanket basket to enjoy sitting outside if the air is a little chilly. Bedrooms have good blackout blinds, for a good night's sleep despite 24-hour daylight. We loved it!

This house is behind a locked gate which requires for opening coordination with the host's agent first and last and proper operation of a cellular left in the house. These were not smooth operations for us. The host charges $10 US per day for wi-fi. The house is close to Geysir and Gulfoss waterfall but isolated from villages or services.

Palmi User ProfilePalmi is a superhost.

I live in Miami, FL but am originally from Iceland. I travel frequently both for business and pleasure. I treat every place I stay at as my second home and hope my guests do the same for me.
