The only reason this won't be a longer commentary on my/our visit is that I don't have very much time to write at the moment, but did not want to delay my review. I am certain that, if you should choose to stay at La Casa de Manuel, you will not only not be disappointed, but you will be touched by the attentive care of Cristhian, the person with whom you are likely to have the most contact. I cannot speak highly enough of him. Arian was also wonderful. Totally a top tier experience which I hope very much to have again.

Amazing location, very communicative hosts, nice breakfast. Our family (two adults, 3 elementary school age kids) stayed here and were quite comfortable. A lot of space and able to spread out. If you're with toddlers, however, be sure to check into kid-proofing, as stairs are a little steep. Highly, highly recommended.

Manuel's place is a feast for the artistically inclined. Beautifully presented, friendly, helpful staff and very well located, close to town.

Great location in the centre of Loja within easy walking distance to many shops, bakeries, restaurants, and the municipal pool. Only $1.50 taxi from bus station. Rooms are big with high ceilings, very clean and quiet with large bathrooms and modern showers. The hosteria features a very modern, art gallery like common space accentuated by natural skylight high above that is very comfortable and gives it a very luxurious ambience day or night. Wifi is really good. Breakfast is included - coffee is good. I would stay here again and recommend this hosteria. Transportation tip: If you plan to take a taxi from hosteria to vilcabamba or izhcayluma make sure they dont charge you more than $20 and the driver knows how to find the destination. I was advised that the rate was $30 and the shuttle driver did not know the way.

The house was beautiful. It really is like a gallery with many different artworks to enjoy. The top floor of the house is like a terrace/lounge area, it was probably our favorite room in the house. The kitchen is very well equipped and the rooms were comfortable and nice. The staff and Manuel were very responsive and helpful. The only problem I had was the listing said "Entire Home/Apt," which is described as "HAVE A WHOLE PLACE TO YOURSELF" on AirBnb. I was VERY upset when I arrived to find there was another guest on the first floor who had already been there for a couple months. We were only staying on a layover for 8 hours so did not decide to move but the listing should really be changed to "Private Room." We would definitely stay in this beautiful house again but only if we are able to rent the entire house. I hope they will change this on the listing so not to confuse any other guests.

In the United States, Manuel's place would be thought of as a Bed and Breakfast. It is a chic and modern home with four nicely appointed bedrooms, each with its own bath, and several shared living areas throughout the three-story home. Each morning, a nice, simple breakfast is provided and guests have access to the kitchen to cook their own other meals, if they'd like. The home is in a nondescript location on a side street that is still fairly busy. Only the "suite" room has a window that opens to the outside air. My wife and I were in the suite, which is a large room. Our only complaint was the incessant car alarms-- mostly during the day. The home is a short walk to the San Sebastian Square and a moderate walk to the Parque Central Square. If you haven't been to Loja, you must go! It is big enough to have lots of fun stuff to do, but small enough that you can connect with it and its citizens. The people are incredibly nice and the vibe of the city is something to experience.

My parents stayed here for 3 nights during the September festival. Manuel did not meet them but the caretaker was amazing. They arrived late and so she offered to get them dinner. She gave them advice about the city and explained the precautions they should take around the city. Especially at night. Manuel and the caretaker were both very nice and attentive. I was very thankful for there attentiveness. They made sure my parents had everything they needed during their stay. The apartment is just as it looks and was very clean. They loved the place and would definitely stay there again.
