We had a great time at this house. It is in a rural area (you'll want a jeep), with no noticeable neighbors, and in the perfect location for visiting Green Sands (hike or 4-wheel), South Point (cliff diving, sunsets), Punalu'u black sand beach (sea turtles), and Volcanoes national park. Because there is no light pollution, the night sky is unbelievable. The house was clean, the beds comfortable, the kitchen pretty well equipped. That said, pay attention to the photos, because there are a few drawbacks. It does sleep 6, but seats only three LARGE adults in leather recliners. Only two people can sit at the kitchen counter. The grocery store in Ocean View is not at all close, so you will want to stock up, but the refrigerator is small and not terribly efficient. The house is solar powered, and the lighting is all overhead CFLs which is not terribly pleasant, and there are no table lamps for reading, and two of the bedrooms have no bedside tables at all. In other words, the creature comforts are minimal, and if that's important to you, you might want to look elsewhere. The sweeping view of the ocean and countryside is pretty incredible, but marred slightly by power lines across the road. We adjusted to all of this and are glad we stayed there.

This is a great place to stay if you're looking for a comfortable, well-equipped, secluded place. The house was immaculately clean and well-presented. Very spacious and comfortable, with well-equipped kitchen. Be aware that it is off-grid, and therefore some power cuts are inevitable after nightfall, but that doesn't stop the hot water or cooking facilities as there is a gas tank. Also it is some way from the main road, so don't be surprised by the tracks to get to the house - your navigation is not wrong! Great place with children as you have plenty of space, two bathrooms and a large outdoor area for ballgames and Frisbee.

This is a soon to be five star stay buy it's not quite there yet. We were 6 adults on a sightseeing trip. The place was quiet and secluded, just as we wanted it. The house has been recently renovated which is great, but it lacks hanging out space: there is no dinning table or sitting area that can sit six people.The house would also benefit with some outside sitting space: the sunsets in the verandah were too lovely to see them standing up! we truly believe these issues will be solved as the property gets more guests (because the care taker really tried to make the best of our stay), but for now, the property is still missing something to be a perfect stay.
