Interaction with guests
Fabrizio & I (Tania) have so enjoyed being hosts during our first year and a half with Airbnb. We loved meeting and learning about people from all over the world. From October 2017 we will be more itinerant, living between Milan and Mauritius and therefore may not always be here but wonderful Brenda & Tania's mother, Brigitte (also an amazing yoga teacher) will be here to welcome guests and help you when we are away. Tania will also be available via phone to answer any questions and continue giving tips. When we are here we offer movement and meditation practices in nature, bodywork sessions , English & Creative Writing lessons as well as tailor made retreats.
We know many great services and places in the area and are happy to recommend in person or via phone and email. I (Tania) grew up in the tourism industry as my parents had a family hotel and restaurant in Mauritius. Both Fabrizio & I have travelled around the world from backpacking, combis & wildcamping to city trekking in boutique hotels and designer spas so we are used to travelling and the questions that may arise. We love to offer insider hints about authentic Mauritian life, nature hotspots and cultural surprises. Being a poet, I also have a wide range of local literature (available in the room ontop of the cupboard).
Other things to note
Walking to the island opposite us ( with sea shoes) around low tide is a blissful experience! Ask us about it!
Better not to drink the tap water unless you boil it. This is true for all of Mauritius. Not just here.
1. Please close all windows when using the air conditioner and kindly remember to switch off the aircon before leaving your room ;) NB: We ask guests to be conscious in their consumption of water and electricity. Not only because that way we can keep our price fair for future guests but also out of respect for the environment. Overusing the aircon creates unnecessary pollution! Thank you
2. We have never had anything go missing. Our village is super safe but please do lock your door when going out! Thanks!
A. There are small bins in your bedroom and bathroom for small things. For larger amounts & for smelly trash please put stuff in a closed plastic bag and take it to the main bin in the garden on the left of the big tree next to the gate that goes to the sea. Please remember to close the bin lid properly! Thanks.
B. For plastic bottles there is a recycling bin in the village , after the traffic lights towards Le Morne at the fish landing station on the right by the sea ... it is large with a clown face! You can't miss it!
C. For raw uncooked veggies and fruits you can feed our crabs! Here's how... throw the peels over the front wall directly opposite your room, to the right of the big tree!
4. Make sure to close all gates to the garden after opening them or dogs will enter and the gate will bang in the wind.
5. There is ample private parking in our garden. Please do not park outside in the lane or main road as it will block access for our neighbors! Thanks!
So, what happens when a Mauritian-German-South African poet and an Italian martial artist meet by the sea in Sardinia? They fall in love and turn their lives upside down and inside out, trying to figure out that crazy thing called love ( a work in progress!) They combine their passions: martial arts and body work collide with poetry and voice work. Movement practices merge with meditation techniques. They begin living, creating and working together around their common muses: the water & well-being... body, mind, heart, culture and nature...
So that's us in a nutshell: Tania & Fabrizio! The full story is a tale to be told over a cup of tea or glass of wine ;)
We live between Milan and Mauritius developing & sharing our Oceanic Somatics & Mixed Movement Arts practices and Technology of Tenderness & English like Water projects. We renovated our lovely Mauritian home in 2016 and began to host people from all over the world. We have met hammock hedonists, beach bums, foodies, artists, kayakers, hikers & bikers, surfers, swimmers, yogis, meditators, dreamers, nature & book lovers alike!
Tania: Being half-Mauritian I am passionate about my island and love to share my cultural, culinary and secret hotspots knowledge either in person or via when I’m overseas. My partner Fabrizio is a natural born host who can cook up a storm in conversation and kitchen. We are both quiet and chilled but also social when we want to be! When in Mauritius, we would like our guests to feel free to participate in the classes we teach (from movement to bodywork to creative writing) and are happy to offer sessions, training and wellness retreats. Or we can just tell you where the best beaches are and leave you to your own devices...
