Description

The space

The house is a great place to spend a summer holiday, there are stone floors throughout and double doors that open on to the terrace the whole length of the dinning and living area. There are four bedroom, so the house can accommodate a maximum of 8 people if you have children they can share the bunk beds as they are built in and very large. As the house is in a nature reserve the nearest neighbor is 50meters away, it's quiet, beautiful and the night sky is spectacular. The house is only a 5 min walk from three beaches.

Guest access

The house has 4 bedrooms, a large terrace, kitchen & livingroom and bathroom

The neighbourhood

The area is called Cala Mondrago which is a nature reserve and protected area on the south eastern coast of Majorca, the nearest fishing village Porto Petro is a short drive away, with several restaurants and small supermarkets, for larger towns there is Cala D'or about 5 kms away with a full variety of bars, clubs and restaurants. There are weekly markets in the neighboring towns of Santanyi and Felanitx.

Getting around

There is very limited public transport in that part of the island, so it is best to hire a car from the airport. The drive from the airport takes between 45-60 mins There is room for 3 cars at the house otherwise there is a parking lot near the beach which can be used

Other things to note

Although there is no electricity, the local restaurants are generally fine with letting you charge your phones while you eat.

This house is beautiful, simple and basic, the lack of electricity adds to its charm, lovely views of the countryside and an easy 15 minute walk to the beach, through national park. We did not meet the owner or a representative. The house NEEDS outdoor seating, seats to relax in and enjoy the sun and the view, and guests need to be aware of the sever lack of water on the island. The gas boiler needs a battery to ensure it fires up, and this had been removed prior to our arrival, we would have struggled to get the fridge and hot water working if my husband and son hadn't spotted it was missing. The towns near the house are lovely and well worth exploring. The best tapas at Tast in Parma.

Hi Cherry Sorry to hear about your troubles, unfortunately nothing I can do about the drought in Mallorca this year but I would of cause have been very happy to send a plumber to the house to fix the boiler if you had only let me know about the missing battery prior to this review, if you don't say then I have no way of knowing, but I'm glad to hear your husband was able to fix it. Best regards, Naja

Perfect place to stay for a beach holiday with the kids. Short walk to the beech, lovely restaurants on the beech and a shop for beech provisions Naja was a very helpful host. The house was a peaceful retreat from the heat and holiday makers. Great holiday.

Our stay in Cala Mondragó was a great achitectural experience and a highly recreative holiday for the family. The surroundings are very beautiful and the nearby beaches a dream. The house is unique with it's strong spatial concept and it's perfect location, isolated in the Park and still within walking distance to the bays - I guess there are not many spots of this special quality to find in Majorca. Naja was always accessible and very helpful when needed. We'd love to come back. Thank you Naja!

The house was a dream, even after spending 4 days i Utzons fabled masterpiece Can Lis. Naja´s house is welcoming, simple, informal and very very beautifully placed inside the Mondrago park and nearby beach of cala mondrago. The house is mediterranean in the best sense of the word; different types of rooms placed on the same terasse, which basically is where you live. The Gas and Cells work just fine, the house a (re)treat and the location a marvel! & Naja is a cool host

An absolutely beautiful house perfect for a week by the sea. There are views over nothing but olive and almond trees from the terrace where you can watch the sun set or shooting stars. In 15 mins we could walk to the sea and the beaches of Cala Mondrago and then escape the August crowds in our peaceful rural retreat. The house is minimalist in it's design and could be improved with a few more comfortable chairs to sit on outside and an umbrella for shade. We had no hot water but Naja did all she could to fix this and with such warm weather it wasn't really a problem for us. To enjoy the house you need to embrace the lack of electricity. I found it a welcome break from my iPhone. Thank you so much Naja for letting us enjoy your house.

Dear Naja The house is wonderful, the near beaches also. We really liked to stay at your house and the no-electricity is with the solar panel lights no problem. The weather was almost summer so that the open corridor was very nice. What a luck for us, that you put the house on airbnb!
