Erin's place was a total dream. The home is stunning and immaculately maintained -- perfect for a short or extended stay. We felt right at home and enjoyed every minute of our time in this incredible Georgetown rowhouse. The location is ideal.. walking distance to everything Gtown has to offer. Beautiful home inside and out -- the patio is so green and tranquil you won't even know you're in the middle of the city! Erin was so easy to communicate with and everything exceeded our expectations from start to finish. We absolutely recommend to anyone thinking of staying here.. trust us - you will fall in love!
It's hard to imagine a more charming place in the heart of Georgetown. Erin's lovely place is located just a two-minute walk from the front gates of Georgetown University and the majestic Healy tower. It's also the same distance from the shops, cafes, restaurants, and more in Georgetown. The place itself is entirely redone (beautifully furnished, modern amenities, comfy bed, large shower) and has a cozy and relaxing garden out back, with lighting and fountain too. Oh, and Erin leaves fresh flowers in every single room. My wife and I stayed here and had such a relaxing time. (We've actually stayed twice it was that nice.) Erin makes checking in and out a breeze and she and her sisters even own a bakery just two blocks away - don't miss that either.
It's hard to imagine a more charming or beautiful place in the heart of Georgetown, just a few steps from the majestic front gates of Georgetown University and from cafes, bookshops, and more. From the lovely living area to the modern and cozy kitchen to the spacious upstairs bedroom to the charming patio, this place is a gem. Oh, and Erin has put fresh flowers for guests in every single room, even on the patio. And don't miss the Erin and her sisters' bakery (Pie Sisters), just two blocks away, for amazing seasonal pies. My wife and I will be back; we really will, we already booked this place again since we'll be back in town in a few weeks again.
Our experience was terrible from start to finish. Beginning with the mildly unprofessional, the host cancelled our planned meet up to check in ten minutes beforehand, promised to come by later, then failed to show up again. I texted her for two full days with questions about our stay, including important information about checkout, and received absolutely no reply. More disconcertingly, the home is not as described. Since I was traveling with a young child, I specifically sought out homes listed as family-friendly and not as potentially unsafe for infants and young children. Imagine my shock to find a large hole between the first and second floors with no safety railing. Even a large child could fall through! Moreover, multiple window wells showed chipped and flaking paint — likely lead-based, given the age of the home, and extremely unsafe for young children — and I quickly learned that a dog lived there due to a strong allergic reaction, though none is listed in this profile. Most shocking of all, when the host and I had a disagreement about what constituted fair payment for an unorthodox checkout situation — a situation directly caused by her lack of communication — she did not seek resolution through Airbnb's official channels, in what I can only assume was an effort to hide her multiple failures as a host from official scrutiny. Instead, she contacted me repeatedly on my personal phone days after checkout, piling on falsehoods and becoming increasingly irate, trying to bully me into doing what she wanted. I was eventually forced to block her number and report her to Airbnb for harassment. Learn from my experience and stay far, far away. This is not a home you want to stay in with kids or a dog allergy, this is not a host you can depend on, and this is not a person you want with access to your name and phone number… trust me.
Response from Erin:
This review holds no validity and truly showcases the character of the guest I unfortunately had at my home. If Kelly truly believed my home was smelly, dirty and unsafe, then why did she submit a request to stay at my home for TWO additional nights after already having stayed for TWO days and TWO nights already??? Personally, if I was having an awful experience at a home and thought it smelled and was unsafe for my child, I most certainly would not ask the owner to stay an additional TWO nights! When kelly submitted her request to stay the additional nights, I had already left town and wasn't able to respond the same day. Instead of Kelly checking out on the day she was supposed to, she took the liberty of staying an additional night, which was without my approval and without approval and payment through Airbnb. Again, why would she stay additional night if my home was so awful and unsafe??! Her review also references the noise from the neighborhood and the University but she fails to mention that she's my neighbor( lives around the block) and works at the university! Therefore, it is rational to assume she would have some sense about the neighborhood and know what to expect? Finally, as I don't want to continue giving more of my energy to this person and unfortunate situation than I already have, I will finish by saying I submitted a request through Airbnb Asking kelly to please pay me for the last night that she stayed at my home and she said NO. I messaged her to ask for the last time and she again said NO. Airbnb is on my side and is taking action to get payment from Kelly. There was absolutely no harassment nor evidence of harassment, just simple requests for payment. This is just a prime case of someone trying to work the system and avoid paying for services already provided. Thankfully Airbnb is now handling the situation so I no longer have to deal with this person. If anyone is looking for an accurate review of my home, please just check any of my many reviews from very happy guests, many of which have come back to stay multiple times. Thank you:)
