This is a cozy and spacious sanctuary tucked away in over 2,000 acres of forest. Songbirds and wildlife abound. This is a unique experience if you are looking to get away from it all. There is no electricity and no wi-fi, so come to unplug and enjoy time in nature or with your loved ones, friends and family (if you choose to have them on, you are sort of in cel service). Comfy queen bed and kid sized mini bunks in the upstairs loft; full sized futon downstairs. There are also options with a single camping cot and double air mattress if you have a large group, tall children, or prefer to sleep outside on the deck. Deck is a great private spot to hang out and enjoy your surroundings on. There is also a campfire pit and hiking trails.
You are secluded in the woods well above our homestead and are surrounded by the forest. This bungalow is in an open sunny location with a large deck, mowed yard, wood stove, and fire pit. The toilet is over a hole in the earth. There is a solar shower and wash basins, as well as a propane stove, oven, and refrigerator.
Interaction with guests
available for questions and supplies, but you are otherwise left to your privacy. Our friendly but curious cat or turkeys might come to meet you. We have chickens turkeys and Guinea Hens, as well as rabbits, running around our house. You are welcome to visit, children especially love coming down to see the farm animals.
Other things to note
The loft steps are very steep. Upstairs is a Queen Bed and mini bunk beds. Downstairs is a futon. There is also a cot or air-mattress if you prefer sleeping outside. Water is provided in jugs. Please be mindful of the value of water, we recommend you bring your own drinking water, and if your jugs run out they can be replensihed at our spicket. The kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans, cooking utensils, plates and bowls, etc. Everything you need for a comfortable stay are there - just bring clothes and food. Also suggested to bring slip-on shoes, personal wash cloths, and kindling if you plan to have a fire.
no indoor smoking
leave it as you found it
This means cleaning up your messes, sweeping the floor, and washing your dishes will be much appreciated!
We will take care of the laundry, and have receptacles for trash, recycle, and compost.
We also provide drinking water, washing water, candles, and firewood.
Candles - common sense etiquette please, this means do not move or allow tall taper candles to drip or burn down to the end, and do not use one to light another. Any spilled wax is your responsibility to clean up. The little tea candles must be in a holder, but otherwise can burn out completely. There are several glass oil lanterns and Solar lights that provide light in the evenings, which can be re-filled easily if necessary.
Wood stove - this one is unique and is very efficient, but you must understand how to use it before lighting it. Please be sure you have a full understanding of how to use it and I will gladly explain this to you. It also must be cold enough outside to create a draft. Prior Permission Required.
No Pets. No Exceptions.

I live in the woods of Vermont, creating a small homestead farm with Goats, Gardens, Maple Syrup, Honey Bees, Bunnies, Turkeys and Chickens. It's been my dream for a while now to settle and survive off the land, its an ongoing process for sure. Traveling has always been a part of my life, I have been to 47 of the 52 States. I prefer third world countries, beaches, and good snowstorms. I spent 10 years living in various parts of Northern California. As long as I am outdoors I am happy, and if all else fails, rollerskate! And one day soon I hope to host travelers looking to unplug and unwind in our off-grid guest house and mini cabin.
