A 100% Mexican space to live the experience of visiting our magical city. Just behind The Cathedral, a few steps from Zocalo, Templo Mayor, Zocalo subway station, and many more. Best location of all the options in Downtown, at a great price!

The space

The room's location is unique since it's surrounded by both cultural and nightlife. The best way to experience not only Mexico City but also the amazing people that live here. No more presumptuous hotels and places that don't allow you to live the way Mexicans live. You will experience the real “Chilanga" culture by visiting the National Museum of Art, The famous Fine Arts Palace, or going to eat some tacos and drink Mexican beers at the famous Lagunilla flea market while you buy some wonderful antiques and vintage clothes!

Guest access

You have access to the kitchen and one of the fridge’s shelves to store your food. You can prepare your meals using our utensils. You can also use the washing machine. The bathroom and the living room are communal areas and you can watch TV or a movie in this last one.

It is important to remark that there is only one key for your room and this is given to you along with the complete set of the apartment’s keys, which means you will be the only owner of your room’s key for the safety of your belongings. It is allowed to smoke in our respective rooms to avoid other’s discomfort.

It is a building where youth people live so it might be noisy on weekends when the neighbors arrive from partying. Nothing crazy, you'll be able to sleep but it's important to mention it.

I loved staying here and América was a great host. I was very happy to see how close it is to El Zócalo and all nearby downtown attractions which saves on commute time. The subway line that runs by this location is very close and has a lot of main touristic attractions stops on the line so it is very convenient to sightsee. The home is very comfortable and has everything you need. The instructions given are very easy to follow and the home is very peaceful. Helpful insight: I did hear some outside noises at night but it has to do with the fact that it's an older Building. This is of course not the host fault. My recommendation would be to bring earplugs if you are sensitive to noises. I would also like to clarify that by second floor she means there is two flight of stairs, so three levels, which are not steep and very manageable.

America and Gala's place is just gorgeous, really comfortable, clean, and spacious. It's quiet but right in the center of everything. Gala was the perfect host: friendly, communicative, welcoming, helpful. It was such a pleasure to meet and get to know her during my travels; she is a marvelous person. I can't recommend this place more highly, and would love to stay there again on the next trip. Muchisimas gracias por todo Gala!

This is a fine, spacious apartment in a busy sector of downtown, specifically the section where books, shoes, and jewelry are sold, just around the corner from the Templo Mayor. You can enter at whatever hour, with keys to the building, the apartment, and your room. There is a bit of noise from the builidng, as the windows open out toward a common corridor rather than the street, but I had no trouble sleeping in the bedroom. There are 3 bedrooms, 2 for guests and 1 for Gala, who is rarely there. Of the 8 nights I stayed, she was there for one night briefly, but graciously spent about 30 minutes chatting with me in the living room upon arrival. She also offered to take me out on the weekend with her and her friends. She is a passionate and talented lifelong student and musician of Balkan and Oaxacan traditions who studies the Turkish and Bulgarian languages. Because this is not a regular home, the place is not as well kept as one might expect, in terms of clean floors and hand towels in kitchen and bathroom, but the living areas and bedrooms were spotless with excellent decor and plenty of natural light. She chooses excellent guests, so I think you will enjoy your stay and location. There are a couple of cafes on the same block and you are 2 blocks from several of the cities' best museums. I highly recommend the 100 years of Constitution exhibit at the National Palace, and the Cultural Center of Spain right next door. Again, if you are looking for a family home, this is not the place, but if you are an independent traveler, couple, or group of friends, this will be an incredible home base, 1 block from ecobici, the cathedral, and the zocalo metro. A safe area for arriving home late, etc.

The room is on the third floor and is quite difficult to find . When two of us arrive Mexico City host information us temparay that WiFi doesn't work . It makes us uncomfortable .(You cannot cook in the kitchen because thestove doesn't work)

Response from América:
*The apartment is on the 2nd floor and this information is mentioned and well described in the ad, as well as the information saying that there is not elevator in the building. I suggest that, before booking on airbnb, you read the WHOLE information about the rooms and choose the one that fits better to your traveling situation. This is the first time I read that the appartment is "difficult to find", specially because there are only 6 apartments in this 2nd floor and all of them have their proper numbers pasted in the middle of the doors. *The Wi Fi service started to fail a few days before your arrival. When you made the reservation we didn´t have this problem, the wi fi was working perfectly, that is why I mention the fail as soon as you arrived. You CAN cook in the stove. It works perfectly, it is just that it is NOT automatic, you need to use matches or a lighter to turn it ON, but even though you had my watsapp contact, you NEVER told me you wanted to cook, nor texted me to ask me about this issue or telling me you were having difficulties to turn it on. It is just now that I'm finding this problem you had because of your comment.

Great location for exploring the historic district! Love the decor in the apartment too. Only complaint was the wifi was broken when I was there, but these things happen. Otherwise a fantastic stay.
