Make yourself at home in the cozy guest room of our newly renovated 1880s Cape home on the South Shore of Nova Scotia! Close to great beaches for surfing, swimming and walking, art studios, antique shops, the famous LaHave Bakery and much more.

The space

The Shore House is a lovely old home set off the road but with a great ocean view. We live in a quiet and private spot that we love for it's south-facing garden and woodland behind. Michael has been renovating the house for the past two years so it has a unique and - we hope - warm feel to it.

The guest room is upstairs and can host 1-3 people as it has a double bed and a single bed, as well as a large desk and a tv to stream programmes to if you like (no 'regular'/cable tv stations though). The bathroom is downstairs so you need to be comfortable navigating stairs to use this house.

Guest access

Guests are welcome to enjoy the whole house, including the kitchen, living room, fire pit and wood stove (we provide firewood), the sunny front deck, barbecue and laundry facilities. We will provide clean towels and bedlinen. We are happy to lend three bicycles to you, and to point you in the direction of some enjoyable bike rides. We also have wifi, and a great library and vinyl collection that you can investigate.

Interaction with guests

Michael and I are pretty social people and look forward to welcoming guests into our home. Friends stop by fairly frequently, and you are welcome to join in. We love living here and talking about living here, so we are very happy to share what we know about travelling and eating in Nova Scotia.

Other things to note

We live with a friendly and adventurous short-haired cat named George. He ranges free but enjoys the wood stove and some serious petting.

Thanks to Jennifer and Michael for a great stay on the Dublin Shore. They made great recommendations for the area, and had wonderful local knowledge. They made us feel welcome and comfortable. Their cute little cottage had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We would recommend.

Jen is an amazing host and her house is wonderful. Perfect place to explore the local area. George the cat is friendly and we had a lovely stay, with great conversation. Cannot recommend this place enough, would love to stay again!

Jen was great! We loved staying here, and we had a terrific time. The room was exactly as described, and Jen left helpful tips and tricks for making the most of our Nova Scotia experience. Also, how can you get better than George the cat? Wholeheartedly recommend!

Really welcoming shared house, had a great time and Jen treated us like friends rather than strangers staying in her house. For the location you will definitely need a car to see the sights but the local sea kayaking is in walking distance and it is brilliant (the company was called Cape LaHarve Adventures). Really enjoyed our time and would definitely stay again!

Mike and Jenn were great hosts, and had a lovely house near the sea. They also made some nice hiking suggestions. Thanks!

Jen was as good as they come. As much as she is hospitable, she is genuinely kind and generous. She took us to the local Saturday market and helped us fall in love with the Lahave/Dublin Shore area. If you haven't been there, you need to go, and spend much more time than we got to there. It's one of the sweetest little coastal communities I have been to. I highly recommend staying with Jen as she is both super helpful and friendly but also chill and laid-back!

We really enjoyed staying in Jennifer's super charming little house. The wood stove and general ambiance made it incredibly cozy, and Jennifer was very hospitable and friendly - we felt right at home.

I'm Jen, I am from England but currently live in Nova Scotia where I work as an osteopath. I've lived here since November 2013 and am enjoying learning about my new home (I lived in London for 9 years previously), and exploring more of North America.
