Come experience a different lifestyle by living off the grid, but with today's modern comfort. Outdoor shower, clean outhouse, running water, full kitchen... Read full descriptions for more details, and don't forget that a picture is worth a thousand words!

The space

Be independent by having your own space and your own kitchen with propane stove and oven, you'll find pans, pots, dishes... Just about everything you need to make yourself a feast. Nice covered porch to enjoy a morning tea and birds to keep your ears busy. The cabin is surrounded by trees.
It is well balanced between rustic and modern. There is a solar panel that provides enough power to charge your phone and computer.
A hot shower is located behind the cabin for your convenience.
A private outhouse free of smell and clean (yes, it does exist...)
The wood stove with a glass door is there if you want to get ride of the chill in the cabin.
No fridge motor that will kick in in the middle of the night.
Hard wood floor, duvet on the bed... It's all there!

Guest access

You will have your own little yard where you'll be able to enjoy the warmth of the sun while sitting on the porch.

Other things to note

We live off the grid; no power, no services... A small solar panel will allow you to charge your phone and computer.
Enjoy the fresh air from the north while using a private outhouse.
There is an outdoor hot shower. Rustic and convenient, my family also uses it. Please note that the shower will be out of commission when the temperature will get near zero as it is frost sensitive.
There is a hole dug in the ground to use as a fridge.
Our water comes from the creek, treated water is available in town.
The cabin is located between our house and the road. Many trees and wood piles offers privacy.
There are sled dogs in the neighborhood who tend to be noisy at feeding time.

My husband and I stayed with Mary for our second year wedding anniversary. The cabin was great and I particularly liked the outdoor shower. Mary was an execellent host. We would be happy to stay here again.

We were so glad we found this relaxing place to stay while we visited Dawson. Although a little outside of Dawson (in West Dawson), it is only a short car ride or 20-min walk and a free ferry trip to town. The ferry runs back and forth 24/7, so you can reach "home" at whatever time you're out adventuring. Dawson itself was a gem, but you probably already know that if you're looking to stay here. Our host was friendly, reliable, and communicative and we were very happy to have her. The cabin is beautiful, and you'll quickly adjust to using (and loving) an outdoor shower and toilet. We'll look for this place any time we're back!

What an amazing place; my girlfriend and I loved it!!! If you're looking for an off the grid experience, this is a luxurious way of living "off the grid". Just bring your clothes and the rest is provided - the ad is extremely accurate! The cabin had everything we needed: running water with a sink, a gas stove and oven with pots and plates and utensils, a table for eating, coffee and herbs/spices, blankets and pillows for bedding, towels and soap for the shower, and solar powered electricity! We did not end up needing to heat the cabin but there was plenty of wood available. The outdoor shower is fabulous with instant hot water powered by propane. And it's true - the outhouse doesn't stink!!!! We are travelers that enjoy camping and adventure, and this was right up our ally! It is walkable to the ferry if you don't mind a 20+ minute walk. By vehicle (which we had) it's a couple minutes to the ferry and the ride across is only a few minutes once you get on. Sometimes there is a bit of a wait depending on how long the vehicle line was but it was quite tolerable and we didn't usually wait longer than 10-15 minutes. It definitely didn't take away from our stay. It was really peaceful and quiet out there. There are some dogs on nearby properties that all start barking at the same time, but it can't be heard when the window is closed and doesn't last long. Our hostess, Mary, was extremely pleasant and made very sure we had everything we needed. She was always quick to respond to messages leading up to the trip as well as during our stay. The cabin is "hidden" from the main house by a stack of wood that makes a wall 6 feet high so it felt like we weren't on anyone else's property. Such a lovely time in West Dawson and we will certainly stay a second time should we ever find ourselves in Dawson again!! Thank you so much Mary; you added exponentially to our trip!

I have two beautiful daughters who know how to keep me busy. We chose a life style that gives us a lot of freedom. During winter time my partner and I like to go trapping, the great summer allows us to garden and during the fall we like hunting. We are hoping our 2 beautiful treasures will love the nature as much as we do.
