It is available to let for self-catering holidays and week-end breaks. There is a beautiful large private garden with a daily supply of freshly laid eggs to collect from our brood of hens. Barbeques and dinner parties are definitely encouraged.

The cottage is located within an area of outstanding natural beauty with glorious walks and bicycle rides up onto the Mendip Hills or across the Somerset Levels, direct from the doorstep. West View is surrounded by gardens and orchards and offers a tranquil retreat for anyone wanting something a bit special and off the beaten track.

The village encompasses one of the natural wonders of Britain, Cheddar Gorge and is the perfect location for a family holiday with the ancient City of Wells, the extraordinary attractions of Glastonbury, Bristol and the coastal town of Weston-super-Mare all within a 40 minute drive.

Cheddar itself has a range of restaurants, pubs and take-aways with varied and interesting shops towards the caves and the Gorge itself , all within a five minute walk from the house. There is a Sainsburys supermarket and a sports and leisure centre.

Down a footpath so away from road noise and secluded, they do have a trolley if you have heavy bags, swing in the garden and chickens . Fantastic record and book collection, lots of paintings all in all a bit boho, if you like clean lines and minimal decor this not for you*, I loved it. *Best stay at home and clean/decorate

Great location within walking distance of Cheddar Village and Cheddar Gorge. Quirky and cosy country cottage that we exactly what we needed for a weekend in the country! Mark and Deborah had laid logs out on the fire for us, which made it extra cosy for us! Easy to check in and great communication

Deborah and Mark were fantastic hosts. They provided us with detailed information about the property prior to our trip. The house was an Aladdin's cave full of delights and was absolutely perfect for our New Years Eve celebrations. I would love to come back in the summer and explore the area

Deborah User Profile

Deborah is a social services team manager and Mark is a recently retired social worker. We are married with two grown up children, Joshua (25) and Hannah (21). We enjoy walking, cycling and camping along with exploring the lovely environment in which we live. We (or rather Mark) have a passion for most contemporary music forms with a special interest in the life, times and work of Bob Dylan! Deborah grew up in Slough and Mark in Brighton. We met while living in London in the 1980's where we worked together for a housing project for people with learning difficulties. We consider our home to be our sanctuary at the end of the day and hope that our guests also enjoy the relaxed, slightly bohemian, ambience we endeavour to maintain.
