About this listing
Guest room with private bathroom on the 3rd floor of my cozy modern condo. Perfect home base for travelers ready to explore Portland. Everything you could need is within 3 minute walk of my place, including public transport. Pets welcome.
It's a really nice modern 3-story town house built in 2008 designed with Japanese influences. The first floor is a mudroom and attached garage, the second floor is a kitchen, living room, patio, and half bathroom with hardwood floors. The third floor is carpeted two bedrooms and two bathrooms, one of which will be your space.
Within 1 block: Grocery Store, Dry Cleaner, Coffee Shop, Fantastic Breakfast Restaurant, Bar, Nike Store, Marijuana Dispensary, and Public Transit Access.
Within short walking distance (less than 10 mins): literally the best restaurants in all of Portland, a 25 acre public park, MAX lines, The MODA Center, the Lloyd Center shopping mall, Wonder Ballroom, Whole Foods.
As long as you're friendly and respectful, you're welcome to use the whole place except for my bedroom/bathroom. If I am not present, you are more than welcome to lounge on the couch in the living room and watch the big screen TV or play some XboxONE or use my Netflix. If I am present, I do reserve the right to ask you to not hang in the living room if I am in need of some personal space. Feel free to use the Kitchen and anything in it, just be sure to clean up and use the dishwasher. You are also welcome to play with my sweet puppy Morgan!
Interaction with guests
I am a pretty sociable guy but also very capable of being invisible if that suits you, but I will be present in the house when you rent it. If you're the private type, the living room will be our only potential interaction between checking in and out. If you're the social type and we get along, who knows maybe I'll even show you some of my favorite spots personally. I am happy to provide a variety of recommendations on where to eat, shop, explore; I know this city like the back of my hand and have my thumb on the pulse of what is happening here...
The townhouse is located on the edge of the very quiet and picturesque Irvington neighborhood comprised of mostly single family homes lined with beautiful trees. You are one block away from MLK St. which offers you some good restaurants and accessibility to everywhere in Portland through public transit and the MAX.
If you want to experience all the wonderful micro-cultures of Portland, the Northeast offers the most in terms of cost, space, and accessibility. Foodies will love walking to some of the best restaurants Portland has to offer within 3 blocks (Toro Bravo, Ox, Acadia Bistro) along with its proximity to both a bevvy of food carts, and a Whole Foods and New Seasons market for those who prefer to stay in and cook. Two blocks away from the Wonder Ballroom event venue. You are a one mile walk from Alberta St or Mississippi St which both offer their own unique set of restaurants, nightlife, and shopping. About 5 blocks north is 25 acre Irvington park which is has an awesome off-leash dog area that's always crowded, basketball/tennis courts, jungle gym, and tons of space to lay out for a picnic. A half mile south is the Lloyd Center Mall (ice rink/movie theater) for a less "Portlandian" experience offering typical mall style shopping.
Public transit: Located 1 block from the 6 bus which runs North/South on Martin Luther King and offers accessibility to everywhere in Portland. The MAX is super close too which can get you anywhere.
The Uber wait is also only about 3 minutes on average and because of the central location won't cost you more than $15 to get to most of the popular Portland spots.
If you are driving, you have an attached garage so parking is a non-issue and you are within a few minutes of freeway entrances to the i-5, i-84, and i-405.
Other things to note
I list the space as capable of accommodating 3 people, which it is; however, it will be very snug and I would not recommend it for more than a night or two as just a place to crash. I'm happy to provide a blanket and air mattress in addition to the queen size bed.
I say "Smoking Allowed" but not in the house, it is only available on the patio which is attached to the living room.
As long as your pet is friendly (my dog is super friendly with all) you're welcome to bring them.
It's all about respect. I am a very friendly, approachable, and willing to help guy. As long as you're aware that you are entering into my home and respectful of me, my dog, and my stuff, there won't be any issues.
Our bedrooms are in somewhat close proximity, so I will ask that if you are coming/going late, or a night owl, that you are very quiet between the hours of 1 am-7 am.
Friendly and likable guy with very good communication skills. I run a small tech startup for a career. I love traveling and the outdoors (fly fishing, snowboarding, golf) and enjoy eating out constantly.
As a guest: I am super low maintenance, as long as your descriptions and accommodations are accurate there will never be any issue!
As a host: I try to be as available as possible, but also respect peoples privacy. If you want to know something from me, just go ahead and ask!
