Our idyllic cosy bolthole is a two-bedroom stone cottage, built into the hillside. It's located on the edge of the Peak District on a charming country lane in the heart of historical Wirksworth.
Built circa 1840, Fryers Cottage retains its original character and features, including a wood-burning stove.
Fryer's Cottage provides both town and country living benefits, with beautiful walking trails and countryside alongside excellent independent restaurants, pubs, shops and galleries.
The space
Fryers Cottage - a cosy 19th Century stone cottage, in the heart of Wirksworth (The Gem of the Peak District)
Our cottage is located on 'The Dale' a picturesque lane in the centre of the Wirksworth conservation area - just a minute's walk to independent shops, bars, pubs, restaurants and even a wonderful independent cinema. It's also right on the doorstep of the stunning Peak District National Park.
Ideally situated for all the Peak District offers - Matlock, Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Bakewell, Dovedale, Eyam and Carsington Water are all just a short drive away.
Built circa 1840, our stone cottage was formerly two small cottages built for workers at the nearby quarry.
Fryers Cottage provides:
Freshly laundered bedding, hand towels & bath towels, tea towels, washing-up liquid, a selection of teas, coffee, sugar, milk, hand soap, toilet rolls, and hairdryer. The cottage conforms to the latest fire regulations.
Due to the way the cottage was originally built (with steep stairs), the house is unsuitable for anyone with limited mobility.
The whole of the cottage is for use but it should be noted that there is no outside space (as is common in Wirksworth).

Please note that this is a cosy room for two adults, and some guests may find it more comfortable to accommodate only one person in this room (or two children)

Parking is further up The Dale (less than one minute to the cottage). It's free public parking on the street, but not private.
