Our adorable stone and wood cottage was built in 2005 in the absolute perfect location for couples and families to enjoy exploring the High Country in North Carolina. The cottage has it all and is just minutes away from hundreds of summer and winter activities!
Driveway is not recommended for low profile cars. 4WD/AWD vehicle is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED from NOV-MAR.

The space
⛷🏂Our cottage is located approximately 2 miles from Beech Mountain Ski Resort and 6 miles from Sugar Mountain Ski Resort! AND If you are looking for a little thrill, Sugar Mountain is now offering a one of a kind wilderness experience, their first Mountain coaster and Adventure ropes course just a short 5 min drive! Across from Brick oven pizza, a short 10 minute ride up the mountain also hosts free snow sledding in the winter months (three sleds located in guest closet are available for use).
❄️🏔If you love to snow tube and zipline we are only 13 miles from Hawksnest Snow Tubing and Zipline which is the longest snow tubing run on the East Coast. Grandfather Mountain State Park is only a short 15 min drive away and is full of attractions from walking and hiking, Wildlife Habitats, Nature Museum, Mile High Swinging Bridge and tons more activities just waiting for you to explore!

🛶🚴🏻Summer time at the cottage is nothing short of amazing just like the Winter! Easy access to all local outposts to enjoy a day trip rafting, rappelling, kayaking or river tubing. The ski slopes also open up for amazing mountain biking. There are many festivals and concerts in the summertime along with visits to Banner Elk and Grandfather Mountain Winery, blueberry fields, horseback riding, and SO MUCH MORE!
🚙 Although 4WD is not required (during non winter months) It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED AND ENCOURAGED during winter months (Nov-March) as we have a good amount of snow fall. To ensure safe driving to and from the cabin and around town, please make sure to have the proper vehicle do drive in the snow (up and down mountains).
🏠🌲TALL Timbers is so close to EVERYTHING, yet far enough away to enjoy the serenity of your surroundings. If you are looking for a spectacular view, take a 5-10 minute drive to the top of Beech Mountain where you will be able to see for miles. While you are there you can grab a trail map showing you the hundreds of trails from easy-moderate-hard. We will also provide you with everything you need to know via email and a very informative book right in the cottage to enjoy your time here.
🏠🌲When you arrive at the cottage, the first thing you will notice is the wonderful stone walls and hard wood flooring. The living room area is beautifully decorated and the gas fireplace is the perfect accessory for those cold nights. The first floor features a living room with a couch and two very comfortable chairs, dining area, fully equipped kitchen, full bathroom, and washer and dryer. The second floor has two spacious bedrooms including three very comfortable beds- (2) queen beds and (1) full size bed. Along with two large TV’s. There is plenty of room for a crib or pack n play (provided upon request). The second bedroom leads out to a balcony where you will find a six person hot tub to relax those muscles after a long day of hiking, skiing, and exploring.
❄️☀️The cottage is heated in the winter months by a roaring fireplace that generates enough heat for the entire property regardless of how low the temperatures drop. We have also installed windows AC units and a brand new HVAC AC to provide our guests with a very very cool cottage during the summer months. These added comforts will allow you to adjust the temperature inside the cottage. With temperatures not reaching much over 75 degrees during the summer, you will be more than comfortable.
🔥🪵We also have a fire pit outside for your enjoyment in the evening time, roasting marshmallows, eating s’mores or just sitting by the fire with a glass of wine. We do provide firewood for your convenience as well as roasting sticks.
🏠🛍Tall Timbers Cottage is located just minutes from the Banner Elk downtown, 30 minutes from Boone and home of the Appalachian State University and 37 minutes from Blowing Rock- making it easy to enjoy the dining and shopping choices in the local areas. We could go on and on about all of the activities in this area, but we would be here all day. Just remember,
