The space

Our little guest apartment has 16 m² (175sqft) and is fully equipped with a queen size double bed (140 x 200 cm), an extra sofa that unfolds into another bed (also140 x 200 cm)), a kitchenette with micowave, ceran hob, refrigerator, a small breafast area and a ensuite bathroom (4m²/45 sqft) with shower.

A small garden and a stand-up pool (1,20 m/47 inches) make for a refreshing break after a long hot day outdoors.

Ideal for a couple with 1 child who would spend their money rather on culture, wine & dine or nice events than on expensive accomodation (PLEASE NOTE: The listing says 3 guests, but really only if one of them is a minor, otherwise you'll find it a bit cramped. We will have to turn down any requests with 3 adults over 14 or so). A word of candor: Although there is a reasonably well organized Public Transport System, you will find your own wheels to be an asset. Buses are frequent in the morning, at noon and evening, but NOT in between. After 10 pm no transport services anymore.

Ideal location for travellers on their way down south (or north ;-) ) who'd like to stop over to enjoy our world famous Margravial Country, explore the southern Black Forest or the Vosges Mountains or who simply wish to relax in Germany's Tuscany, the famous Baden Wine area on two or four wheels.

Freiburg 15 km, Colmar/Vosges mountains 30 km, Black Forest 15 km, Kaiserstuhl (famous Baden vineyard) 15 km, Europapark (a MUST-GO for parents with children) 35 km.

Gas-station, bakery and two restaurants in the village, next supermarket 2 km away

Next ICE railway station: Freiburg/Brsg. 15 km/30 min on Public Transport;

next local-train railway station: Bad Krozingen 6 km/11 min on Public Transport, Bus every hr. or so, Bus-stop ca. 250 m walking distance from aptm.

Heart-Clinic: 7 km, 10-12 min by car

Transfer from/to Basel Airport (55km) can be arranged (50 EUR). Transfer from/to Freiburg ICE-station (15 km, 20 EUR)

Interaction with guests

Since we are both working, interaction might not be too much. We're usually around in the evenings, but not regularly. We also respect the privacy of our guests, yet we are happy to do whatever we can to make your stay comfortable. Heike and I are ALWAYS reachable by e-mail or text and we try to respond quickly. Our parents live on the top floor, but they don't speak English and may not be of much assistance, although they are friendly but prefer little to no interaction with our guests. Dad's workshop is next to your room, but obviously he will not work there at night and rarely when we have guests.

House Rules
No smoking
No parties or events

We appreciate folks who are considerate and quiet, although we don't expect you to be mute while at the guest apartment. Respect for our property and a considerate use of electricity and water are not really rules, but we consider it a way of life. Pets are ok, we love animals and have 2 little dachshunds ourselves. Your pets should be friendly and good natured, though, since at first sight our little "Monsters" ;-) start barking at other dogs (never at cats, rabbits or the like...) - but after a while they're accepted. Since we are on different floors, they'll probably not have too much contact anyway. PLEASE: ABSOLUTEY NO SMOKING in or around the house. On the porch in the garden smoking is ok, when we are not on the terrace in front of our living room.

Great well thought out space with everything you need , true to description. Recommend. Easy to get to places from this location with vehicle. We went south to German villages in the valley Heike recommended and enjoyed , also a lot of the Alsace Wine Route, Colman a must and we found the section from Eguisheim to Ribeauvillevto be best as larger towns to stop at and pretty. Thanks for hosting these Kiwi's (NZ)

Response from Andreas:
It has been a great pleasure!!! Pity we only met once - and that only for a minute or so since I was in a rush :-( Enjoy your onward journey, and a safe return to the Kiwi-Islands ;-)

A great place to stay especially for a couple exploring the region. A small but very functional little apartment in the basement of their house. The small village it is in doesn't have much going on but having said that we believe it's in the perfect spot to go exploring either east through the Black Forest region or west through the quaint towns of Colmar, Mulhouse etc. Andreas and his wife Heiki (apologies is that spelling isn't right) were extremely hospitable! Really kind and good humoured. Everything works really well in the apartment from kitchen, to bathroom to wifi no complaints at all. Only that's it's a small place so probably not ideal for a rainy day inside. We were kindly given a bottle of wine on arrival and were helped lots with places to hike and shop (we needed some help for specialist shopping in Freiburg for outfits to wear to a wedding). Loved our stay would highly recommend to a couple passing through or staying for a while with their own car.

Very clean/responsive/room has all facilities/Heike and Andreas are very friendly and even had a welcome bottle of wine for us in the fridge and they told us we can use their garden swimming pool. A good location if you are traveling by car as it is easy to park and close to many places. By public transportation the village is a bit further away from everything. Overall a very good experience and next time definitely again.

Small yet cozy place, the guest-apartment is well-equipped with modern furniture. It is located in a very small village, just about 20 km from Freiburg. Heike was super friendly and gave us some good tips on places to see. Thanks a lot!

A great start of our holiday! We spend two nights in the guest apartment, as the startingpoint of our holiday in Italy. As mentioned in the discription, the room is not huge, but it had everything we needed. Besides this, it was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The hosts were very kind and helpfull, and  made sure that we had a great time.

we had a very good experience. the apartment seems brand new. it's nicely decorated and very well equipped (especially the kitchen). the hosts were really kind and friendly!! pay attention that the apartment and the bed are very small, but other than that it's perfect.

We enjoy the company of friendly and decent people, as we try to be so ourselves. We love skiing, flying, animals, the area where we have the privilege to live, but also travel, reading and a glass of cold Pinot Noir on a warm summer's night on the veranda. We are vegetarians, no…
