Neighbourhood highlights

Top Ten Reasons for why love our neighborhood.
10. Safety
The East Carrollton neighborhood (part of “Uptown”) has low crime rate and is patrolled regularly by the NOPD 2nd District and the Tulane and Loyola Police Departments.
9. Audubon Park and Zoo
This beautiful oak filled park and award-winning zoo are about a mile from our location. I run there each morning and take my kids to the playgrounds and zoo all the time. The “Fly” connects the park to the Mississippi waterfront and is the place to be when the weather is nice.
8. Snake and Jake’s Christmas Lounge
A truly legendary New Orleans dive bar. This a small, late-night, neighborhood bar that has been voted 'New Orleans Best Dive Bar' many times and is a favorite of folks around the world. They are open every night of the year, especially Christmas. You could crawl home if you needed to (not that I ever have...)
7. St. Charles Avenue Street Car Line
The historic line starts uptown, at South Carrollton Avenue and South Claiborne Avenue. It runs on South Carrollton Avenue through the Carrollton neighborhood towards the Mississippi River, then near the river levee turns on to St. Charles Avenue. It proceeds past entrances to Audubon Park, Tulane University and Loyola University New Orleans, continues through Uptown New Orleans including the Garden District, and ends at Canal Street in the New Orleans Central Business District at the edge of the French Quarter, a distance of 13.2 miles. The closest pick up to the house is about three blocks away.
6. Tulane and Loyola Campuses
Sporting events, concerts, open green space, a great place to run on the way toward Audubon park, easy access to commencement events - all within easy walking distance.
5. Williams Plum Street Snowball Stand
This heat busting summertime treat is so close, you could probably throw a snowball and hit it. If they are open - you should partake.
4. Maple Street and the Riverbend
The stretch of Maple Street running through the Carrollton neighborhood between Broadway and Carrollton Ave has great walkable shopping, dining, drinking, and entertainment. The Riverbend area is also filled with more of the same, including our beloved New Orleans diner: The Camellia Grill
3. Oak Street
The stretch of Oak street running west from Carrollton Ave toward the river is home to great shopping, restaurants (Jacques-Imo's, DTB, TruBurger), coffee houses (Rue de la Course, Zotz), and bars (Ale, Oak, Maple Leaf).
2. Maple Leaf Bar
This venerable joint with live New Orleans-style music, tin ceiling, and a hopping dance floor is a must-visit. The Rebirth Brass Band has a regular gig there every Tuesday night that brings down the house.
1. NOLA
15-minute drive to the French Quarter, 15-minute drive to Jazz Fest at the New Orleans Fair Grounds. Even faster access to everything in-between. Our spot is a great place to explore from and see the most unique city in the world.
