The Castle on Champagne Ridge is the perfect getaway from Nairobi. Hang out with your friends on the spacious balcony while grilling nyama and soaking in the incredible views to Lake Magadi and beyond. The Castle is a self sufficient eco-friendly home, sleeping a maximum of 6 adults (no children under 15 years) in 5 sleeping area.

The Castle is located only 18kms from Kiserian town on an all weather dirt road in the heart of Masai land away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

The space
We continue to welcome guests and are committed to ensuring we are all kept healthy and safe (guests and our local Masai community). We have implemented a 24 hour time lapse between guests leaving and new guests arriving. This is in addition to a strict sterilization cleaning protocol between guests.

We will maintain a ZERO CONTACT policy with our guests, this includes check in and check out. Once you arrive and park we will direct you to your accommodation where you will find the key to let yourselves in. All communication will be through phone throughout your stay.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may have on your travel plans if your preferred dates are not available. We hope to resume back to normal as soon as possible.

The Castle on Champagne Ridge runs on solar/wind power and we harvest our own water; so very eco friendly.

The house is an open plan design maximising the stunning views and outdoor living areas. The living area boasts the most comfortable Italian leather sofa guaranteed to induce an afternoon nap, the open plan kitchen offers the best views of any kitchen in Africa and the large mahogany dining table is perfect to enjoy meals with friends.

The balcony is kitted with an outdoor dining table with comfortable safari style chairs while the gas BBQ grill tempts anyone to cook dinner. There are a couple of lazy chairs which are perfect for chilling while reading a great book or staring at the view or for that sneaky cat nap.

The kitchen is equipped with pots, pans, cutlery, crockery, glasses, and mugs. There is a fridge. There is a gas oven and cook top which is ideal to cook up a gourmet meal or to heat up food you have come prepared with (or stopped at one of Nairobi's takeaway places and picked up some pizza, roast chicken, sukuma wiki, pilau etc - I talk from experience!). Please note we DO NOT have a resident chef.

There is tea, coffee and sugar as well as salt and pepper and a few other spices in the kitchen. We harvest rain water and it is safe to drink from the tap (saves bringing plastic water bottles with you)

The Castle on Champagne Ridge also has a library filled with a range of books for you to enjoy while staying and some games like monopoly, cards and dominoes.

Other useful items include a TV and DVD player with a range of movies on DVD as well as an ipod docking station so you can listen to your favourite music.

There are 5 sleeping areas, 2 bedrooms downstairs and 3 sleeping areas on the mezzanine floor separated with a unique indoor canvas tent! The mezzanine has an indoor balcony and living area with stunning views of the Rift Valley.

Due to the unique design and location of The Castle we do not take children under the age of 15 years. This includes infants. It is simply not safe or appropriate for children or infants. There are plenty of other places on Champagne Ridge catering to families with children. We also have other holiday homes on our property for couples who come to escape their kids for a couple of days!

The area is very safe to go walking on top of the cliff or if you are up for more energetic exercise then you can hike in and out of the valley, we have a few regulars who bring their mountain bikes or motor bikes to explore the area.

Hiking in our area is fantastic, we have a natural spring and traditional Masai caves which can be visited (Masai caves subject to not being used by the Elders or young Masai warriors); there is also a huge old twisted yellow acacia tree which will have you wondering how it got its shape! The views are incredible and if we are lucky we will spot dik dik, rock hyrax, vervet monkeys and eland!!

We are located only 10 minutes from Champagne 4x4 Park an up and coming 4x4 off road and rally event centre. We are only 20 minutes from Corner Baridi (on a murrum road), 30 minutes from Kiserian and 45 minutes from Ngong Town.

Once you have made a booking you will receive confirmation from Airbnb along with written directions (these are on your itinerary). Please use the written directions to get to our place as these are correct. Online map systems are not accurate in this area and are likely to take you on a magical mystery tour.

NO PARTIES ARE ALLOWED. As we have other holiday homes on the property we do not permit parties. While we don't mind you playing your music we ask that you keep the volume to a reasonable level so not to disturb our other guests.

Where you’ll be

Kiserian, Kajiado County, Kenya

Situated in the middle of Masai Land, Champagne Ridge is 1 hour from Karen, the area is classic Africa with Acacia trees, zebra, eland, antelope, gazelles, an abundance of wildlife and the occasional ostrich roam freely throughout the area.

The Castle on Champagne Ridge is not far from Ngong, Kiserian, Ongata Rongai or Karen in distance but feels like an entirely different World. Away from the hustle and bustle of city life we enjoy a chilled relaxed rural lifestyle.

We are only 8kms from the new Champagne 4x4 Park where several 4x4 off road and rallying events are held throughout the year. It is also home to the amazing Masai 7s rugby event!

Originally from Adelaide, Australia I have lived on the African continent since 2003 working in tourism as well as running our own community solar power project Napenda Solar Community. I have spent the better part of my working life outside of Australia and living all over the World. Our place in Kenya is our refuge, a place to relax and recharge the batteries. I love to cook so spend my free time in the kitchen working on some new recipe or simply experimenting with various ingredients and textures. We have a small organic garden which we try and grow some veggies, our area is semi desert so this poses as a challenge during the dry season. We have 5 German Shepherd dogs; Sally, Stella, Beau, Zanny and Pikey who are thoroughly spoiled, although they may not agree! They love their daily walks, swimming in the dam and playing soccer (football). Sally and Stella are adopted, while Beau and Zanny are rescue dogs; and Pikey arrived on our front lawn in Dec 2019 begging for food and never left! I live with my husband, Tim, and 5 dogs; we love traveling and the dogs love camping! The Castle is open to all regardless of religion, culture, sexual orientation or nationality. After all, variety is the spice of life.
