Welcome to our charming 1915 home, nestled in the historic Annex of Angels Camp. Your cozy lavender room offers vintage elegance with modern comfort. Just a short stroll leads you to the famed town, home to Mark Twain's "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County." Sip coffee on the wrap-around porch, hike in the nearby Sierra Nevada foothills, or visit local wineries in Murphys. Friendly dogs and cats share our home, but they won’t enter your room. A peaceful, historic retreat awaits!
The space
Welcome to our charming historic hideaway, nestled into the rocky hillside of the Annex in Angels Camp, where time slows down and the whispers of the Gold Rush surround you. Built in 1915, our home offers the perfect blend of vintage elegance and cozy comfort. Your lavender-hued guest room, with its high ceilings, feels like stepping back in time while enjoying all the modern amenities you need.
Just a three-minute stroll along a quaint, crooked old sidewalk brings you to the heart of Angels Camp, a town made famous by Mark Twain’s "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County." Explore boutique shops, or enjoy a treat at the Lemon Tree Coffee Shop. For dining, Crusco’s offers delicious Italian fare, or you can take a short drive to Mike’s for the best pizza in the county. If you need anything more, larger stores are just a mile away.
From your room, wander out to your private nook on the wrap-around porch, where you can sip morning coffee overlooking the garden or enjoy a glass of wine as the sun sets, with the peaceful sound of Angels Creek in the distance.
We’re just a one-minute drive from the Calaveras Fairgrounds, home to the famous frog jump competition, and only eight minutes from Murphys, where you can enjoy boutique shopping, wine tasting, and the Mercer Caverns. Columbia Historic Park, Jamestown, and Sonora are a quick 25-minute drive, as is Arnold’s Calaveras Big Trees State Park. Yosemite is just two hours away, and Sacramento Airport is an hour and a half drive.
If you're a nature lover, the foothills of the Sierra Nevada offer endless hiking trails, and nearby Lake New Melones is perfect for a day of fishing. We also share our home with two friendly dogs and two cats, but if you'd prefer not to interact with them, we can easily keep them away—they won’t enter your room.
Come relax, explore, and experience the perfect mix of history and adventure in Angels Camp!
Guest access
Guests will park in front of our barn, which doubles as my art studio, on top of the hill. From there, you'll walk down a gravel driveway, down some sets of stairs and through a gate to reach your private entry door on the porch. If you arrive in the evening, twinkling lights and lanterns will guide your way. Feel free to relax anywhere on the porch, and if you’re heading into town, simply continue around to the front stairs, where a quaint sidewalk leads directly downtown.
During your stay
I’m often around since I work in the art studio on-site and do other work from home, so feel free to text me anytime, and I’ll respond within minutes. I’m happy to answer any questions or offer assistance, but I also respect your privacy and will give you space. You may hear a dog bark here and there—they’ll be excited to meet new people, but it's totally up to you if you'd like to interact with them.
Other things to note
Please note that there’s no parking in front of the house, and GPS won’t guide you directly here. Since we’re in one of the oldest parts of Angels Camp, you’ll take a few small streets that wind up the hill and around to the back of the property. Don’t worry—I’ll provide clear directions to make your arrival easy! You’ll park in front of the barn, which is also my art studio, and enjoy a short walk down to your private entry.
