This two bedroom one bath genuine log cabin is located in the lower pier point area of Camp Nelson. The views of the mountains and sky are spectacular in this cabin with very large decks. This cabin was built in the early 70`s and has been updated.Things to do in Camp Nelson :
The Nelson Trail just at the end of Nelson Dr. One of the largest sequoia groves along the Tule river. Also The Trail of 100 Giants in Ponderosa, CA just up the 190. The Stagg Tree in Sequoia Crest.

The space

Authentic log cabin with cozy wood burning stove heats the cabin
great ! I removed the flue on the fire stove because some guests had no clue to open it to let smoke flow. Also a back up portable propane Mr. heater is available for the bedroom. This is an all electric cabin so there is no dangerous gases.
Please don't forget to bring your wood! AC in the summer.
FYI Cabins in the forest are not like hotels...dirt will come in off your feet even after I clean. As for some of the reviews my standards are very high and I am constantly doing improvements.
NO SPACE HEATERS ..THEY TRIP THE BREAKER SWITCH THEN NOTHING WORKS

Leah had to cancel due to area fires and mandatory evacuation. She was diligent to call us at the earliest possible moment to let us know so we could make other arrangements. She is a great host.

Cool place to stay to see the sequoias. For three girls it can be a little bit scary but the outdoor is so pretty. There's only one bar around and a bit hard to find. Watch out with the neighbor! He can get angry if you use his path to go down to the house.

Bad experience for us due to previous bad guests

Response from Leah:
Dear Marie, I am not sure what you are trying to say??? The cabin was clean and orderly and everything was fine before your arrival. Please explain what was bad??? This is very frustrating if guests do not tell me what was wrong. I had a guest before you that broke the rules and smoked in the cabin but it was all aired out with lysol. Not a fair guest rating at all ??? I try very hard to make sure all of my guests are happy before they arrive and even have it listed to call me from the general store if there are problems. It breaks my heart when I get this kind of blatantly rude review with no explanation. Cabin Owner Leah

The cabin was spacious with good views of forest covered mountains in a remote location, although there are other cabins & houses in the street so it isn't too remote. The forest isn't really accessible from the cabin and there are no trails nearby within walking distance that I could find. It has good kitchen facilities so you can buy groceries from the local store and cook your own meals. Overall it was good value for what we paid.

We stayed 2 nights and had fun but the cabin is really basic. Our bed was very very soft and the furniture is pretty run down. There's an awkward grill / exhaust/ vent on the floor in the middle of the house and it's hard to avoid it. Not great for bare feet... Tons of flies coming from the neighbors who own 4 horses and their house is a mess and unkept, so are the poor horses... It would not be relevant if it didn't affect the outdoor patio experience but it really did. The no cell or Internet thing is very real: the ONLY way to get in touch with anyone is by using the store phone in Camp Nelson (the store closer was closed the entire time we were there). Don't expect to get service for miles! But the home owner mentions it. Believe it! The area is drop dead gorgeous so if you don't mind the minimalist lodging, you're good.

Response from Leah:
Thank you for the feedback. I have people breaking everything nightly, just replaced the dishes and in one week all broken. Just put some there that were mine until I can get some more delivered.. Just bought new cups too since yesterday someone broke all of 8 glasses.I blocked a day at the end of the month to stain the deck. The sofa is being soiled but I clean it each visit with odor and sanitizing spray. Not sure what to replace it with? Just put in more lamps since every time I fix the pulley chains on the fan lights they are broken again :( Just replaced the frying pan, now the other pots must be burned up again. There is a very large fence that blocks the horses and they are at least 1000 feet or more away. Even when they are not there in the winter there are flies and at every cabin up here. This is the forest and there are loads of critters lol. If you don't like what comes with nature then stay in the concrete jungle where there is cell phone reception and modern comfort. BTW the kitchen is updated and is very clean and has a brand new fridge and great working oven and burners. Not sure what was dirty???
