We Dave & Erron and our 3 children moved to Ireland in 2002 from a very industrial town in North Lincolnshire, England. We had found that our life in the town of Great Grimsby seemed to suit the lifestyle we craved, less and less.
Not only did we want a more rural lifestyle with fresh air, but also the chance to experience life at a much slower pace, where "normal" is to pass the time of day with total strangers. Where we could appreciate the night sky without light pollution, and have the time to notice the changing of the seasons.
We first moved to the village of Sixmilebridge in Co. Clare and then 2 years later moved to Aglish in Co. Tipperary where we bought Conroy's. The licence to the bar had already been sold and the village shop and Post Office had also been closed.
We originally thought that the property would make good self catering accommodation because of it's size, but it wasn't until we were refitting the kitchen in the main house and we were using the pub as our "make do kitchen", that we actually came up with the idea of keeping the bar intact and using it's uniqueness to it's advantage, and so

During your stay
We always greet our guests on arrival to give them the keys and show them a few pointers on the more unusual aspects of The Pub With No Beer.
As we only live next door, we are on hand to help in any way if needed.
We are quite happy to leave our guests to their own devices and let them enjoy their stay as they wish, but we do also welcome spending time with our guests, should they wish to do so.
We have travelled extensively around Ireland over the years and are more than happy to offer guests hints and tips of places to visit, especially places that are off the beaten track and are unknown to mass tourism: "The hidden Ireland" as we like to call it. We are also happy to offer help on other things such as directions and restaurant recommendations etc.
