I don't know if this flat is in a rough area of town, or if it all looks like this, but this neighbourhood looks rough. Rough looking sorts walked the streets at night and we didn't really feel safe. Finding the flat isn't easy, as Beppu lacks a Metro and (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) has no understanding of the buses. There were some instructions provided by the host but try as we might we couldn't make sense of them. We ended up in a taxi who had no idea where there flat was and so had to be directed by me from the back seat via (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Maps calling out directions in Japanese. Once arrived things don't improve. The entrance to the block is via a communal doorway which resembles one of those dodgy car parks you park in because everywhere else is full and you know you'll regret it later. There is a flight of stairs to lug your suitcases up, where upon you're met with the noise and smell of an open air drain. The doorway to the flat is metal and looks like it hasn't been painted in a good 20 years. Inside things don't improve. The photos on AirB&B are highly deceptive. They're of this flat, albeit with rearranged furniture, but in reality this is a dark, dingy, and yellow place. The kitchen looks like it hasn't been touched since the 1970s. Most bizarrely of all, the bathroom has a urinal. Even the wi-fi is bad, it's absurdly slow, resembling dial up internet from years back. This simply isn't a pleasant place in which to stay and we left before we needed to. One to avoid.

The appartment is very nice and spacious. The wifi isnt highspeed, actually it was pretty bad, but except of that we really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely come again.

If you just need a room to stay in for a few nights and you don't need anything fancy, this a a good place to stay. The space was one big room with two rain beds on he first floor. All you see is parking lot and other buildings. A bit of a walk for shopping and restaurants but not a long drive to Max Value and other places on the main drag. Worth the $54 a night.

We decided to walk from Beppu station everyday, not a bad walk at all. The home was very clean, nice, well equipped but the wifi router is very weak. We were able to go to an Onsen near Hells of Beppu, see the hot springs, take a bus to the aquarium and see the monkeys. The family mart is close, laundry mat across the street, food places and grocery stores are by the way and a short walk. Overall a great experience! Good communication from the host.

Very comfortable stay, we enjoyed the spaciousness of the house, and also its prime location - centre of Beppu. Everything is within reach in 10 minutes of driving, including the famous Hells of Beppu. Seichiro has also provided us with very clear check-in instructions/check-in manual.

This is a bargain accommodation especially for a group/family trip. The room is large with all the equipments functioning well. It is located in a residential area with some local bath (onsen) which only costs 100 yen per use. Within 5-mitue walk, you can access to supermarkets and several places to eat. You need to get on a bus from Beppu station (140 yen/ride) but many buses stop at the nearest bus stop. Very ideal if you visit Beppu in a group!

A very nice flat, clean and well located, quiet. No washing machine. You can walk from the station and going north, 2 streets away, you will find a very good supermarket. The tourist information office is much better at the Hell Jikoku than at the train station, and the mud onsen close to the Jikoku is great.
